Thanks PNF will just have to see if I can get a decent site & if I have been allocated an unsuitable number let them know which site I have taken. By the way do you know if the sites along the road to Shingwedzi are considered Perimeter (ie C6PV) or not. Thank in advance

Not sure where there are 'sites along the road'. The "View" sites are perimeter sites ie along the fence.

Hi Margief

Is it possible that you may be thinking about Letaba - where there are sites not far from the S94 as it goes around the camp? I don't remember any sites along the road to Shingwedzi... :hmz:

The sites from the Swimming Pool towards the Central Building - i.e. Shop Reception etc. Seem to run along the main access road to Shingwedzi.

Yes those are also perimeter sites. They are from the swimming pool, maybe 10 or so, but stop very far from the Fuel Station and is far from the entrance road...vehicles on the road is barely visible in the distance. However, the old, disused day visitors facility is about 100 meters in front of the fence. We stood there for 12 nights exactly a year ago.

After about 10 nights the acting Supervisor paid us a visit to check that we had a perimeter reservation.

Good day,
Shingwedzi is our favourite camp. As we are pensioner-campers we only make use of chalets once a year when visiting Ngwenya Lodge. We have decided to treat us for five nights in a BG2 unit. Would anybody please be so kind as let me know which of these BG2 units, that would be units 36 to 53 in the B circle, would you recommend for afternoon shade?

Regards

Warm welcome to the forum Wilfre.

Shingwedzi is a wonderful camp and I'm sure you are going to enjoy yourselves there.

I can't say which ones are the best for afternoon shade unfortunately but there are a lot of trees around the chalets.

You can have a look at the topic we have for Accommodation photos where you will be able to see some pics of the various BG2's

Shingwedzi Map which might help you gauge if you know where west is in relation to the map?

Please note that Shingwedzi restaurant deck and dining hall is currently closed due to construction taking place.
However, the restaurant will still cater for Take-Aways.
Follow the signs to order Take-Aways.

DirtTrail, there wasn't an expected completion date on the FB post or exactly what was being done but from pics I saw on another post (not SP) it looked more like the thatching was being replaced.

Hi Elsa, thank you for your feedback. We stayed in unit B78 for eight nights and had as usual a wonderful experience in the northern region, though most of the dirt roads were closed due to the rains. Shingwedzi will always be our favourite camp!

Every road north of Mopani is now open right to the top of the park. Only the H15 and S48 are still closed to the south.
