This video clip was taken on the 18th at lunchtime.
Low water bridge at Lower Sabie

The tar that had been washed off the road on the H4-1lying on the side of the road.

The lower bridge on the S25 close to Timfenheni Loop.

On the evening of the 17th, we sat with a group of 10 wild dog on the S25 for over three hours as they lay on the side of the road waiting for the rain to abate. Just before gate close they decided to go on the hunt, we followed them on the road for about 3km where they chased off after some impala and disappeared into the bush. Little did we know in a few hours the river would rise to its peak, but we were very grateful for the sighting!

Wow, those pics speak a thousand words and bring it home!
Devastation and hard to believe how high that little trickle of a river came up.
Thanks for the pics Avon.

The H12 bridge over the Sabie River.
Image

The debris turned the 400 metre bridge into a dam which flooded across the road. The river would have been more than half a kilometre wide when it left this debris so far into the bush.
Image

The tar was lifted from a section of the H4-1 just after the bridge, and deposited neatly on the verges. You can just see the beginning of that section in the distance here.
