Memorable staff members

Our family fondly remember Obed who was the head waiter at Lower Sabie Restaurant about 30 years ago. We have often wondered what happened to him. He would recognise every one of our family members and greet us with a huge smile. If one family member was not there he immediately would enquire as to where and why they were not there!

Another great Sanparks staff member is/was Timothy. He and Alfred (the latter sadly died several years ago I believe) lovingly looked after Jock Camp in the 90's. We spent many wonderful family celebrations there - my 50th, my daughter's 21st amongst others, in the days prior to the lodge being changed into a concession.
Timothy then moved to Berg en Dal where we saw him a few years ago. Wonder if he is still there.

Now , this is exactly what Krugerparking is all about, reading this reminds me that we should all take note of the staff that make our visits memorable, The Kruger staff , in my own experience, have been nothing but respectful and always extremely humble. I can highly recommend to all Krugerparkers, that we all take a few seconds out of our day to greet the staff that clean up after each and every one of us,
Is your braai/bungalow/campsite/ not always clean and ready for use when you arrive or even back from a morning drive ?
You will all find out that a smile and a thank you to the staff make the world of difference to your visit.
I have yet to find a miserable staff member in the Kruger,
WHY I hear you ask, Its because I take the time to greet all the staff and thank them for making my holiday easier and special.
A smile and a Thank you works wonders, give it a try , Your braai will be cleaned first in the morning.
I say a BIG THANK YOU to all the Kruger park staff.

Hazel who worked at Satara reception for years and years was a true gem - could always manage to find us a bungalow when the camp was booked out!
Both Julius and Sipho from Olifants who introduced us to mountainbiking in the park.

The person I remember as a child was Gus Adendorf and later in life Frank Watts (Shimiwini) Mark (Bateleur) and Vic Botes (Crocodile Bridge).

I sometimes forget my own name, but also the couple at Tsenze and Lydia at Tamboti

Rodger and Elenor at Tsendse camp.They look after the camp as if it belonged to them.Every evening they will come around and have a chat to everyone in the camp this is something that should be taught to all the hospitality managers of the larger camps. Rodger posts on his facebook page daily making those that follow him jealous and long for the Kruger.If you ask Rodger to show you the owls he knows exactly where they are perched for the day.They have been at the camp since it opened and my wife and i try go visit them at least once a year,even if just a quick stop on our way past the camp.
