South African Meets 2011

If you would like to get together to meet with Val Stephens and her SO Dungbeetle2 on Tuesday the 4th January we would like to organise a bit of a "bash"
They are out here from the UK for 6 months

The time and place still to be decided on.

Please do try and attend, sure its going to be great fun.

Just to confirm the meet will be held at Hugh's (Eliz) home and will be at 6pm or as soon as you can get there.

Please will everyone who would like to attend bring, a) themselves! b) their drinks and c) 1 plate of savoury eats, sort of like a bring and share.
Sure its going to be a fun evening of meeting, greeting and lots of laughs.

A very big Thank You to Hugh & Elizabeth for hosting the meet last night and to Elsa for assisting with the arrangments. It was great to see some familiar faces and to meet some new faces. It's always so much fun to listen to stories of experiences in the Park.

This was really an excellent idea and it was nice to see the mites you already know again, to put faces to those forum members that you have not yet met and most important to make new friends as well. Most of us that attended today will also meet in 2weeks time at Skukuza for the cricket. We had to leave early, but I would love to hear comments about the braai later tonight.

To Tshukudu and SO, from me and Catmatix a very BIG thank you for your fantastic hospitality and that you took the chance to host this party. You were great hosts! You also have a lot of wildlife behind the plot. We saw owl, nightjar and a hare darting across the road on our way back to the R114 just on that little gravel stretch to West street. I almost had a photo of the owl since he was sitting in the headlights and then decided to fly of as soon as I switched on the camera. So typical…

To al you other guys and girls, it was a pleasure meeting you all and you’re all really a fun bunch of people to hang around with. We can’t wait for the next one. Obviously we were the last to leave, but it just show what great company you were! Thanks for everything and please enjoy the cricket for our sakes too!!

The Prings, David and Lorraine will be in Durban for 3 nights in July and we thought it would be nice to have a little get together for them.
At this stage it will be held on Tuesday 19th July
Time still to be finalised but more than likely around 6pm.

Penny has kindly offered to have the function at her home which is in the Morningside area, so nice and central for all.

If any Durbanites would like to attend please contact either Hugh or myself for further info and directions.

Brooklyn Birder will be in Cape Town in early August, and would love to meet forumites, especially those who have been to KTP recently. Practically, the best time to meet would be Friday, 5th.

She is staying in the city centre, and a budget/family meal was mooted, so if you would like to join us, please take this as the official invite for 19h15 or so at the Waterfront (Santa Ana) Spur.

As you may know, the Prings (Dave and Lorraine) are here in SA again!

How about another meet with them here in Gauteng. Two years ago we had a winner of a meet. On Saturday (23 July 2011) they will be available. We thought a braai at Rietvlei should be great. If Rietvlei is fine, we could meet at 12:00 and get the ball rolling!

Hi there mighty Mites!

I received some good news from Mads. We can have the lapa at Rietvlei for free if we book the game drive as well (R135 per person). In such a case we only have to be out at midnight!

If we don't take the drive, we can braai/picnic at the picnic spot and have to be out of the park at 18:00.

I'm off to Kruger on Saturday (9 July) for a week ( ) and must know within the next day or so whether we are going to be enough Mites to book the drive and lapa or not. If you feel that a meet at a restaurant is a better option, please post your suggestions here.

The meet is on people!

Welcome on-board Dikdikkie and JustNature..going to be great meeting you in person!

And a warm welcome to you as well Prings..I just knew you will be there!

Mads is currently sorting out things with Rietvlei. At this stage it's important that we book a minimum of 10 people for the late afternoon drive, so that we can have the lapa! We can braai before AND after the late afternoon drive!

Flutterby, I'm sure you can stay for the drive as well...just bring your family along!

Elzet, we are going to be in the wild, not a noisy crowded restaurant! Put on your beanie (the one that I've bought you for Tsendze today) and you will be nice and warm!

Going to miss you Joe, a meet without you is just not the same! (Seriously, enjoy your party. )
