Diepwalle - Knysna Region

Unread post by Stockman »

We've just returned from a long weekend at Diepwalle. This is our second visit and it is just one of the most fantastic places to stay. For those that don't know it is situated in the Gouna State Forest on the R339 between Knysna and Uniondale. The camp sites are wooden decks which have been constructed in amongst the forest. The ablutions are typical Sanparks and were clean and well maintained. There is more info on the Sanparks site. Definitely a great place for hikers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. Definitely will be back.

Hi Stockman

We're booked to stay there in July. We've booked over the Oyster Festival and want to be aware of the distances etc before we go. A few questions that we haven't been able to get answers for yet...

1) How do you secure your tent to the decking?
2) Exactly how far from Knysna is the camping area?
3) Did you take your own tent?
4) Do you have photos????

Thanks for your assistance.

1 - We used the tent's guy ropes, take a few large cable ties with, very handy. The decks are in the forest and one is not exposed to wind even though you can hear it blowing above.
2 - Distance to Knysna - sorry, can't really remember exactly. If memory serves, takes about 30 minutes.
3 - Yes we took a 3m x 3m Canvas Dome tent, fitted perfectly.
4 - Plenty pic's, but find uploading to this forum a real pain, so if you PM me an email address, I'll gladly send to you.

Each year on 21 March, as South Africa celebrates Human Rights Day, the world also commemorates International Day of Forests.

And what better way to appreciate South Africa’s enchanting forests than indulging in a woodland stay? Escape to these forested protected areas for peace, tranquillity and stunning views.
