I have not seen any topics on this forum about survival and i think that it is very important to know how to in case you get lost or something.
So i am going to explain a few pointers about how to survive in the bush...
If you get lost first things you need to think about are shelter, Food and water. These are the main 3 things you need to do before anything else!
Water
If i am correct a human cannot survive without water being consumed in 3 or 4 days. So this is a big thing you need to consider finding! I
Always look for walking paths made by animals. These are paths that have been worn away by animals constantly walking back and forth from water. As you know animals also need water to survive.
Another thing to look for is succulent very green bush. This is a sure sign that there is either a underwater pond or lake or some or another water source underneath the ground. There could also be a stream or river.
Another thing to look out for is water birds. These are birds that are deppendent on water for example Saddle billied stork's, Fish Eagle's, Double banded sandgrouse, Pied and Giant Kingfisher's, Geese etc.
Finches and doves are also constantly in need of water so keep an eye out for them. The Double banded sandgrouse in the early morning and late afternoon flys both to and from water in a darting like fashion across the sky.
When approaching the water just becarful if you are in a vicinity where there may be crocodiles and Hippos. Hippos result in the most deaths of human beings in africa! and crocodiles arent exactly the niscest animals to socialize with.
Food will be done next.....

Food-
Here your easiest source of fodd would be grasshopers, in other words insects and fish. If you have amazing speed and awesome stealth then you might beable to get a buck
But the chances of that happening arent great.
There is a tee called the Apple Leaf. It is also called the Rain tree because a bug by the name of the spittle bug sucks the nutriants out of the leaves and it slides down the bugs body and falls. and normally when you walk past you will get hit by the liquid. It also has little umbrella thingys lol i think they are seedpods if im correct and when you throw them in the air the hover down.
Now i am telling you about this tree because its bark when crushed and ground aswell as its root can be used to poison water in order to kill fish.
This is probaley the easiest wat to ge food.
The other options are berrys and fruit. Before you eat a fruit or berry etc open it up and dab a little bit on your tounge, if it is bitter DO NOT EAT IT! if it tastes fine wait for about an hour to see if you get any medical reactions. if not take another small taste and repeat the proscess.
Do not eat brightly coloured insects! this means tey are poisenous. do the same tasting method as above. but NEVER eat brightly coloured insects!

Poison fish...
A different method is for catching fish in a stream or brook.
Make a weir or barricade with rocks in a shallow part of the stream, to go from bank to almost the opposite bank to channel fish towards the shore or shallow point. walking from downstream of the weir will scare the fish upstream, and on their return they get stuck by the rock barricade. Once some are inside and trapped, hit the surface of the water with a stick or branch. The concussion will render the fish...ahhh...ripe for the picking

Re: How to survive in the Bushveld.....
I think if a person follows a troop of monkeys or baboons a person might survive for a few days. Eat and drink what they are having.
(not the ones at the picnic spots or in the camps, taking and grabbing from others is not considered a survival skill)

If you have to survive when the wild fruit are ripe you will have something nourishing to eat. Marula’s, Wild Plums, Monkey Oranges, Mispels and Moepels for example.
