Kudu Awards History

Unread post by Wild@Heart »

Hi everyone ...

Seeing as we've had record new users registered and to refresh some of the memories .. just a short note on how to get Kudu's ... (that's the Kudu's above your avatar for those who don't know yet)...

Kudu's are not allocated as other forums on the number of posts, but are allocated through nomimations.

How do you get Kudu's allocated? Through nominations ... members who feel that another member is contributing to the forum in a positive way, that he/she is adding tremendous value, insight and experiences relating to SANParks and the website/forum and has really gone above and beyond, can nominate that member for a Kudu ...

If you feel someone deserves a Kudu .. then please send your nominations to any of the moderators and we'll gladly give the nominations through ...

Please make use of it, so that we can tell our fellow members that we appreciate their efforts in sharing with us ...

1 Kudu = 5 Nominations
2 Kudu's = 20 Nominations
3 Kudu's = 40 Nominations
4 Kudu's = 75 Nominations
5 Kudu's = 100 Nominations

(Ratings for now only .... can change)

The more Kudu's the harder it becomes .. but impress people with your posts and it could become easy ... I mean we almost have a 1000 members

Ratings Changed on 11 October 2006

Previous Ratings wrote:1 Kudu = 5 Nominations
2 Kudu's = 16 Nominations
3 Kudu's = 27 Nominations

@ W@H

1. Once you have a kudu is your nomination tally reset or do you have to get another 9,13,15 votes for the next kudu?

2. May a forum member nominate someone twice for 'one' kudu. Say you think someone deserves a kudu and nominate them and then a few weeks later you think they deserve another nomination - is that possible?

3. Do we have to motivate why we are nominating or may we just nominate someone by submitting a name?

Nope ... tally stays the same ... so if you had 5 and you get a kudu and you get 3 more then your total will be 8

Sure you can ... if they add value and they receive a kudu and the persons contributions just keep getting better ... why not?

DinkyBird wrote:3. Do we have to motivate why we are nominating or may we just nominate someone by submitting a name?

If you really want to motivate ... we won't object ... but it's not neccesary ... we usually tend to agree with the nominations we receive ... and in any case ... even if we don't vote for a person, if enough members vote, the member will get their kudu's (moderators vote or not) ..

Any more questions? I'll gladly answer for you ....

Thanks for the questions DB ... I hope it cleared some of the doubts in the members heads up ...

Would it be possible to include the kudu's on the memberlist so if one wanted to go through it to consider nominations one could see who has kudus or does not?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but is sort of related...
What is the difference between Junior Virtual Ranger & Kudu's?

Conrats to the new Kudu members.

The first one is a title, the second one a visual. The title appears with the kudu's like this:

What do the different Kudu's mean?

I have just been to Kruger Park and purchased a whole lot of back copies of Kruger Park Times. In one of the issues there is an article on this site which states that Kudus are based on contributions and it does not mention the word nominations. Maybe w@h or wildtuinman can clarify this.

Hi Penny

I thing that we as users nominate a fellow forumite and I for eg
always look into the contributions. I think the mods also check the nominees for their assets the forum. Cant think of any other way

Penny here is the announcement W@H made. When was the issue you read that in dated? Did they quote anyone in the article from the forum as having said that at all?

The article is partly correct. On most forums, rewards are granted by the number of posts one makes. On this forum kudus are granted by the number of votes a member has received from its peers. So if a member values ones contributions, they will PM their vote to a moderator. This can be done every month.
