Re: Anyone coming to Cape Town soon?

Unread post by annapangolin »

Woohoo! It appears I have the first post-meet post :) EDIT: I did when I started to type, then Caracal beat me to it!

Thanks so much to everyone for a wonderful evening. It was such treat to meet all of you, and I can't wait for the next one.

You were all as awesome (and even awesomer!) than I had imagined you to be. This forum has really changed my life. When you get to meet the people who make you laugh each day; the ones who also offer encouragements and share their stories and their amazing trip reports and photos, it's just... wow.

Oh, What I would do to be a Pring right now! To have two months exploring the best of South Africa ahead of me... . Brook (Jr. Pring) was a real highlight of my night.

Thank you everyone!

Cape Town 22 Sept outing - anyone

Unread post by Bush Baptist »

Hi Kamprunner has suggested that while it is a public holiday and she will be in town, is anyone interested in a picnic/birding outing/dinner or what.

If you have any suggestions or would like to join in, here is the place to do it!

Ok, a very successful and happy meet was held last night at Penny's home.

Always so nice to meet new "Forum friends" and be able to put faces to names.

The Prings had a long drive up from EL and must have been very tired but were the epitome of friendliness and chatted on to all of us.

Some pics.

The delicious spread of food which was preceded by steaming bowls of Bobby's very tasty Thai Chick Soup.

Just to confirm that we'll definitely be at Walter Sisulu on Sunday 20 September. We'll be there from 8:00 onwards to do some birding. You're welcome to join us then. If birding's not your thing, meet us at the restaurant, where we'll be having something to eat and drink, at 11:00.
Anybody welcome.

We are in the area and ready for Walter Sisulu tomorrow. We'll be there at 8 and spend time there until at least 13:00.

Bert, Duco's birdlist passed 210 already. Mine is on 242 and that excluding the birds we added today.

We have about 4500 photographs, mostly birds...so that should do as proof?
Of course I won't mention the pics of Lammergeier, Ground woodpeckers, Crimson-breasted Bushshrikes, African Hawk Eagle, Pearl-spotted Owlet, Orange-breasted waxbills, that would be cruel, I think?

Back from Walter Sisulu. It was lovely to finally meet up with Duco :D and see GP again.

Dave and Jan and the mouse all had a lovely time together. Sorry, no pictures   I am not used to taking a camera with me, so I completely forgot that I had brought it with

We spoke and bonded again like long lost friends. :D I had a lovely meal wth some lovely company 8) I am really looking forward to meeting our two love birds again.
The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.
