Butterfly: African Monarch
African Monarch, Danaus chrysippus aegyptius (f. liboria) is found year-round throughout South Africa. Often found feeding on flowers.

The pupae in early'ish stage. The pupae about an hour before hatching.

In the latest Butterfly field guide, some common names have changed. Same as what is happening in the birding world (Black-shouldered kite now Black-winged Kite as an example).
"Official" common name - African Plain Tiger. Alternative common name - African Monarch.
I think everyone still refers to it as Monarch though.
