3 out of 5 in one photo

Unread post by HenriKriek »

My wife and I visit Kruger as often as possible. Being 45 minutes from Orpen makes that easy!

Last year on the 18th of May, we drove back from Lower Sabie. At Komana dam, we saw this amazing sight! The ***, three elephant bulls and four lions. Fortunately, the *** was busy drinking water and two lions were laying close to the water. One of the elephants also came to drink and this photo was the result! I also marked it on GoogleEarth at the co-ordinates 24°37'09.68" South 31°47'41.50" East.

Unfortunatly, as the *** left, three buffalo bulls came to drink. Otherwise I could have had a picture with 4 of the big 5!

But here is the photo with the buffaloes, lions and elephant!

Happy planing our trip 2010

Unread post by Magic Guarri »

Hello everybody!
I am sure, that there are a lot of people who are planning their Kruger Trip 2010! Same like me! Usually we wanted to go to South Africa in September for 3 weeks but we had to cancel the trip because of the swine flu - we have a boy with 6 month! So we will go next year for 2 month to South Africa and of course visit Kruger!
That was not an easy decision - especially for me - but it´s the best for the little boy! 3 years ago I did a Field Guide Course near Krugerpark - so I feal really at home in the bush :) Hope to come back soon! Planning the trip 2010 makes me happy - like the zebras jumping in my picture! It´s the first time to post a picture here - so I hope it will work!
All the best for you all!
See you in Kruger 2010

To be happy is better than to be a king. People who are happy own a real unique treasure:
A laughing heart

PLEASE NO HOTELS in KNP and PLEASE don´t change KNP into a Funpark!

This series of ours depicts a Martial Eagle been attacked by a Fork tailed Drongo and which didn't appear to faze the Eagle too much at all!
was seen in Kruger this year on the top of Mathekenyane view site.

uBhejane wrote:A nice sighting from my side was a White crowned lapwing at the Nkhulu picnic site last week. Unfortunately didn't manage to get a photo of it :( . Don't see them very often.

We saw them on several of the days around Sunset Dam area in June this year. Great sighting and a new tick for me!

Thanks for the explanation re the lesions on Black ***.
Didn't realise they could be quite that big.

Elsa those are wonderful photos, funny how the Martial Eagle just sits there. Must have been a great sight to experience. Reminds me of David vs Goliath

uBhejane maybe next time you will get that photo of the White crowned lapwing.

By the way thanx to both of you for the info on the Black ***.

Not the best photo but certainly unusual.
Cheetah kills Impala, Leopard kills Cheetah and takes both up the tree.
Near Croc Bridge in August.
