Also seen a kill albeit far away (lion vs. zebra, lion won).

I suppose the most amazing thing that I have seen was a pride of lions getting chased off by an elephant bull, never seen lions move that fast before. After the ellie had successfully chased them off, he proceeded to have a good old scratch against a tree (I think just to rub salt in the wounds of the lion). Makes you wonder who is the real king of the jungle?

Howzat guys.

Lots of amazing sightings but the most memorable:

1. Leopard eating baboon in tree when a pride of 7 lions pitched up and chased the leopard away. Lionesses climbed up and retrieved the kill :D (H9 near Erfplaas waterhole)

2. Two rival clans of hyena's fighting in the Sand river bed near Skukuza, (1996)... 21 of them in all fighting amongst the cars

3. Leopards mating from Balule camp fence

4. Crocodile catching an impala at Mazithi dam (1999)

5. Two male lions catching a buffalo calf on a late night drive... Buffalo males +- 20 formed a wall and advanced towards the lions, the lions were actually swating the Buff's on their snouts they were so close. (near Boyela waterhole, H1-7)

6. Lioness catching zebra foal at Nsemani dami

7. Most recently... lions (including cubs) on giraffe kill in road on S125... Picture below.

8. Memory more than sighting... Lion kill sounds heard from Orpen.
Lion kill was 100m from fence on exit gate side of camp.
Only saw remains of Wildebeest the following morning but was scary.
Sounded like they were front verandah

I've enjoyed reading the many stories... great stuff, keep them coming!!

One of our favourite sightings was of a Lion female near Muzandzeni Picnic spot. Early one morning we found her walking and then she started calling. Four little cubs appeared out of some grass near the road and joined her. Here is a photo my hubby took. Only three cubs can be seen here.
Image
She walked with them for a while then headed up a river bed

Of course we followed and watched long after they disappeared.

Many great sightings, always something special but one of the best was sitting with a herd of buffalo near Mopani,on our own for over an hour watching one give birth to a baby. Then watching whilst she licked it clean and it took its first steps.

Will always remember that

8. And how could I forget the serval catching a francolin on the s100 - July 2007

9. Or the serval kitten on the Sunset drive at Mopanie - April 2009

10. Or the Skaapsteker (snake) at bunaglow 49 at Mopanie, who suddenly appeared on the rock & tried to catch a bluetailed lizzard I was looking at, and while chasing it didn't see me, so I got a HUMANGOUS FRIGHT as it got 50cm from me!! - April 2009

EISH, lets stop!

Walking is the best way to explore Kruger: 2x Olifants Backpack Trail (2009, 2016), 3x Mphongolo Backpack Trail (2011, 2013, 2015), 1x Mathikithi Wilderness Trail (2022).

Pangolin  slowly crossing the road on an early morning drive from BnD, and secondly, coming face-to-face with a porcupine  while walking in the bushes in Biyamiti Bush Camp. Not quite sure which of us got the biggest fright.

For us Kruger Virgins this was high adrenaline stuff.

One of my all time memories was travelling back from botswana at dawn and having to slam on brakes to avoid hitting an aardvark, it just stood in front of the car and stared at me. I couldnt believe how big the thing was, always thought they were much smaller in my mind
