I was in WCNP last Friday 7th August. Both gates were open ( R27 and Langebaan ends) and the Postberg section was open. You are not supposed to get out of your car except for the restaurant and toilets. But don't rush to go there yet.......looks like the flowers need about another 2 weeks to get to prime.

Thanks for the "live" update. Not much fun if you can't get out of your car or picnic but a lot can change in two or three weeks. I'll certainly keep an eye on developments.

After some hard work, coping with high tides and strong winds, the West Coast Region of the SANParks Honorary Rangers can announce that the project to renovate all 4 bird hides is now complete! We thank all for their patience and sponsors who assisted in covering the cost, and hope that visitors will be able to enjoy the use of the hides!

Is there a link on the WCNP website to a preferred source of tides info pertaining to the respective hides?
Any info would be much appreciated plse.

Has anyone already been at the newly renovated Steytler Cottage in WCNP? I can not find a lot of information.

We have seen the pictures on the Sanparks page but can not find where exactly it is located and how close it is to the stables.
They write in the description it can be noisy from the school groups at the stables but how often are groups there? On the other hand, we are used to little kids

We take every information we can get on the cottage.

Thank you

Hello there I have seen the cottage but have never been in it It is lose to the "stables" that are now used for school groups for accommodation. The cottages look really nice They are just close to the Geelbeck area and near one of the bird hides
Hope that helps.

Thanks for info from this new member!
I am taking a group of 12 friends for a day visit on 16 Sept 2023 and wondered whether we need to make reservation as day visitors? Also any suggestions for the route we should take?
Much appreciated

Hi AdolfTheron and a warm welcome to the forum :gflower:

The following is from the website:
Flower Season Popularity:

Flower Season at West Coast National Park has become increasingly popular in the last few years, and visitors are encouraged to come early to avoid long queues at park gates, which on sunshine days, can be very long.

Tips to make the most of Flower Season:

Download the Gate Registration Form and fill it out before you come to the park. This will speed up time at the gate and shorten the waiting period for everybody.
Gate Registration

I did ask for clarification whether they might allow a group to prebook as day visitors.

Enjoy your visit and please share your experience with us on this Forum.
