Let's just say that I was recently in the park for a 9 day long weekend. (the long weekend at the end of April and the one at the beginning of May 3008.)
During all this time, I noticed a lot of speeding tourists and not one single visible speed check point.
Is this an example of increased measures to counter speeding?
We covered many roads and travelled a fair distance from Numbi gate, all the way via Tamboti, to Letaba and then back down to Croc Bridge, via Lower Sabie.
Not one single speed checking point, no visible staff to check on visitor behaviour.

We saw one speed checkpoint just before Skukuza over the same period. Several times we saw a SAPS mini bus patrolling Skukuza. We also watched a SAPS vehicle fine a lady for getting out of her vehicle in the Park. There is some work being done but is way way too little for the amount of visitors in the Park over this very busy period. Either reduce the numbers of day visitors drastically (the preferred route as the Park is too overcrowded) or increase the numbers of officials keeping the peace.

Not an altogether bad idea there Senyetse.
Personally, I think that SANPARKS need to reduce the number of tourists and increase the patroling of the park.
The same number of tourists and an increase in the number of patrols, will increase the number of cars on the roads.
Kind of defeats the objective of reducing traffic flow.

Speedsters
I think Speeding is a problem. Just a thought who is watching the Kruger Park Workers? I have seen many of them speeding as well as the Visitors. As far as restricting numbers well I think they have tried to control this more lately. But spare a thought for the Kruger fanataics who cant get into the camp because of all the booking being full. Some of them are really Park lovers to further restrict that would not be entirley fair.
Thery are stopping people coming in and the long weekend of May they didn't do a bad job. The normally "mad: road from LS to SKukuza wasn't unbearable. The other thing I have noticed too is the number of people who hang out of cars and actually get out, it makes me mad. The rules are not made BIG enough. A Board at the gate and a screen in the receptions might help?

Speeding problems
We do visit quite frequently. say every second weekend as we stay right next to the park.
I often experience park employees or shop employees with their vehicles being very uncooperative regarding traffic etiquette. They don't feel nothing for visitors trying to take photos, passing them at incredible speeds, bewildering the birds / animals without the blink of an eye. I understand they're allowed 5 or 10 km/h more than us.
Normally they were very considerate but this is something of the past.
We also experience visitors being uncooperative, rude and even becoming aggresive if they're addressed on hanging and getting out of vehicles. driving with open combi doors etc.
The other day we entered at Malelane gate. People from Durban got out of their vehicles to book in. One male person walked into the veld to throw away a bag of garbage. i addressed him after which four males surrounded me asking what's the big issue. I told them this is not the way we work and they should go and throw it in the dustbins. this request was ignored. Thanks to the security which I called and asked to refuse them entrance untill they comply. He assisted me gladly. The thing is they'll just do it again in the park for revenge.

I visited the lower part at the beginning of June and it included two weekends. There was no doubt that the weekends were the worst. Thing is though if I'm travelling at 30 everything that passes appears to be speeding.
Worst offenders seemed to be cars/4x4's with either MP or L plates so I supposed these to be locals in for the day.
However I saw for the first time, what I assumed were official vehicles with 65kph limit signs. Such a simple thing but a really good one too.

Having just returned from 4 days in Kruger, I can honestly say that speeding is indeed a problem.
From our observations this time, there are three main offenders.
By far the majority are those with Licence plates ending in MP
Following close are the numerous are the safari companies, rushing around in their little green cars at breakneck speed, to be the first at the next sighting(probably received over the radio) and mainly down the dirt roads!
Then we have the trucks of the both the parks board and the outside traders delivering.
I for one would like to see the two way radios banned for these safari companies, and let them do what all the rest of us do - drive slowly and spot our own game!

Quickly look at Compliments & Complaints thread , apparently a staff member has posted a report of speeding on this thread .
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

We were in Kruger this February and can support all the posts here. Speeding is a big problem and definitley spoils the tranquility and viewing. The big offenders we saw were the contractors and the private safari companies. We had three vehicles from the same company pass us at over 60 km/h about 2 minutes appart at about 7am on one of the dirt roads. Destroys any peace and quite and chance of a good viewing.

However, my view is not the issue in my mind.We saw no less than 10 dead birds and two injured on the sides of the roads (tar). All had clearly been hit by cars. This was really upsetting as these creatures have been killed in their "homes" by carless drivers. It was horrible to see injured birds on the side of the road in obvious distress. Made us very angry with speeding drivers and they give little time for the animals to get off the road.

I believe that there is a speeding problem in Kruger, but I had to vote "no" as to what I have actively witnessed. 
During our time in the park, we saw far fewer speeders than I thought we would, based on others experiences here on the forum. We saw no speeding on the dirt roads, and were only "blown by like we were standing still" once over 4 days on a tar road. We were passed by a few cars going over the limit while on our way towards Phalaborwa Gate, which IMO lends credence to the problem of people using KNP as a short cut to Moz.
As a whole, we saw a whole lot more civility and tranquility than we expected.
Even then, this was only my experience over a short stay. More needs to be done.

hello Every one!
I was in the park the weekend and i must say i saw a few ppl speeding!
To mention one, I left yesturday morning from Lower Sabie to Croc bridge and a huge white truck went past at quite the speed.
One good thing i did see, was that there was a traffic officer setting up a cam on the H4_1 at about 9am so hope he caught the driver!!!
Thanks to all the Lower Sabie staff (especially the game rangers,Martjie, Rodger and Patrick )who made my w.e there a happy one!!!

Just returned from 9 days in park , an Imperial logistics pantechnicon passed me between Letaba and Mopani , I sped up and followed it at an indicated 77km/h .
I encountered at least 2 other excessive speedsters .
