It has an element of danger; but these guys are very bush wise and know their story. Its not like if you or I were to hop on a bicycle and ride around the park; we'd soon become lunch for some predator.

:) It is unreal how relax they appear to be, when they wave at you passing them. :)

Saw a very friendly ranger on a bicycle near open dam last week. He waited patiently for a herd of buffalo to cross the road  . We waited coming from the other side. Once the buffaloes crossed he proceeded, we proceeded and we all waived and smiled friendly :D
Kgalagadi and Namibia next ...

They walk, they ride bicycle, they camp, they sleep in the bush ...

They know the bush and how to act. Their senses are also much more attuned to the bush than other people's.

Obviously there is risk, but this is their world and they are part of it.

Agree Imberbe. We also saw rangers on foot on poaching patrol during our recent visit. I expect that being on foot they can access areas not suitable for vehicles / bikes, and are able to look for signs of poachers. Saw the rangers on dirt roads and in river beds.

These guys know what they are doing.
