On Line bookings at Sanparks

Unread post by RonS »

I have an existing reservation with Sanparks.
I am able to change a booking for a spesific date on line.
However, how do you add on to that reservation on line? if you want to book additional days?
Please assist.
Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,

Please see User Guide

When you are on your profile, go to existing Reservations, open the reservation you want to add to, at the bottom you will see "Add Accommodation". From there on you follow the same procedure as when you make a new reservation.

Hi Lion Queen,
When I go to my existing reservation there is no "add accommodation" button below.
Only two buttons: Cancel reservation and Deposit letter.
I am using the new on line booking system.

Hi Ron, screen snip is also from New Reservation system, very weird.

Can you view your Reservation? Can you add to the Reservation when you have your reservation open (view)?

Hi Lion Queen.
Yes I can view my reservation and make a change to an existing booking date but I cannot add any days.
Booking is for Kgalagadi
By the time I managed to get through to Central Reservations after trying to call a number of times over about three hours the spesific booking was no longer available.
Being able to add online would solve this problem.

I'm so sorry about you loosing the additional booking.

Let me ask the techies to look into this.

Did you make the original booking by phone?

Yes I made the original booking by phone with Central Reservations.
Your assistance would really be appreciated as it would be a great help if you can add to your itinerary on line.

Hi Ron,

I got the following from the techies
The problem is if he made a reservation via the call centre, and it is captured as a standard public reservation type then he might not be able to amend this via web. I would ask him to email reservations for assistance.
I just don't have any Reservations :( at this stage to test it.

I do know from experience in the past, that some types of reservations are locked and you can't amend them. For example way back when there were Photo Competition prizes.

Please see User Guide

The above link is broken - where has the guide moved to please?

The questions I have about the online system (for a multi-camp Kruger itinerary) are:
1. re availability is it better to book each camp separately? As it is not reserved until paid for? I am worried that by the time I have added all my camps into the basket, some of them may have been snapped up by someone else!
2. when online bookings open (https://www.sanparks.org/travel/book/us ... ng-periods) what time of day is that? 00:01 (just after midnight in SA, 11pm here in UK), 09:00 or what?
3. it looks like you have to pay in full at the time of booking? So, all the talk of deposits and lapsed bookings only applies to phone reservations?
4. can I amend bookings easily (e.g. if a 'better' unit becomes available)? Is it easier, or doesn't matter, if there are multiple camps on the same booking (Qu 1)?
5. what are the cancellation terms? I found a doc that stated a 25% fee if cancelled between 15 and 30 days before visit, but did not mention cancelling earlier than that...

Thanks for any help and advice

Some of your questions answered
re availability is it better to book each camp separately?
I guess if one is booking for a high and busy season, then it might be in order to secure a specific accommodation but maybe others can offer their experiences.
it looks like you have to pay in full at the time of booking?
Yes, On line bookings require full payment at time of booking and a 5% discount is offered on those bookings.

[url=Accommodation availability is reconciled on a daily basis.
This process starts at 12:00am (SAST) and runs for approximately 2 hours.
Unfortunately no bookings can be made while this process is running.

Taken from How to book So basically more than 30 days, no cancellation fees.
Cancellations:
 Percentage is calculated on the client’s total reservation cost payable.
 Cancel within 30 to 15 days before arrival - 25%.
 Cancel within 14 to 7 days before arrival – 50%.
 Cancel within 6 days and less – 100%.
 If the arrival date of the itinerary is postponed prior to or on date of arrival and then cancelled at a later stage, the
fees that applied at the time of amendment will be enforced if the amount is greater than the new cancellation fees.
 Modifications:
 For downgrading of a reservation when a deposit has been paid, percentage is calculated on the difference:
 Modify within 30 to 15 days before arrival – 25%.
 Modify within 14 to 7 days before arrival – 50%.
 Modify within 6 days and less – 100%.
 When modifying the arrival date to an earlier date, no modification fees will be charged, unless the total cost is
decreased and the arrival date before the modification fell inside the 30-day period.
 If the arrival date of the itinerary is postponed prior to or on date of arrival and then cancelled at a later stage, the
fees that applied at the time of amendment will be enforced if the amount is greater than the new cancellation fees.
** There are no cancellation or modification fees charged on conservation fees but day permit booking fees are nonrefundable.

I can't see any reason it should be, I see it falls on a Thursday and doesn't appear to be close to any public holidays or even public school holidays.

I have a Kruger trip booked for August, and am thinking of changing the itinerary.

The SANP website used to have webpage where you could search a camp for accommodation availability by calendar month.
Can't seem to find that on the new website ?
