Re: Orchids of SANParks
Great thread Justin
Great finds that you have posted above
I am always on the lookout in our parks, but have only found Ansellia africanas (leopard orchids).
Now, if you included, as with birds and animals in the garden then I can contribute right now
Pterygodium orobanchoides (previously Satryium and or Corycium)
growing prolifically in my garden (over 100 plants last year)... have mowed around them...

I will have to dig around for some Ansellia pics

Re: Orchids of SANParks
That is an awesome Orchid to have in the Garden Richard!
I have only had one orchid flowering in my own garden as of yet, but I have three species getting ready to flower at the moment, I'll post pics of them when they do!
For now, a few Orchids from a recent survey in the mountains above George
Disa spathulata (spp tripartita)
Satyrium pumilum (Carrion flower orchid)
Disperis capensis (spp capensis) Witch Moederkappie
Disperis capensis (spp Capensis) from a different location

Stunning flowers and pics Justin
Are yours in situ or in pots?
A really rewarding hobby (until you kill 100s, cymbidiums, thanks to neglect, weeds viruses etc)
Thankfully mine are getting more attention in my retirement)

Re: Orchids of SANParks
Thanks Richard!
The orchids in my Garden are completely wild, as are all the orchids I post here
I enjoy searching for wild specimens far more then I do growing them. This is mostly due to the fact that I have very little time to take care of plants
