A very warm welcome to you.
You are speaking with the converted here. Chirinda and I are leaving on Tuesday for Mapungubwe. I truly love the place and a return trip has been on my wish list for a long, long time.
What an interesting little bit of info about the Voortrekker Monument.

Re: Why Mapungubwe National Park is special
I finally got to see my first Mapungubwe lions last Thursday night! Fittingly at Leeupan. A female with 3 cubs. In fact there was a lot of lion activity around Mazhou with lions including a big male roaring loudly and continously from about 2am and moving past the camp around 5am.
Latest lifers (691): Lesser Yellowlegs, Red-throated Pipit, Spur-winged Lapwing, Broad-billed Sandpiper, Racket-tailed Roller, Mottled Spinetail, Eurasian Curlew, Red Knot, Boulder Chat
