Hello, could someone please tell me how payment is made for reservations that are made by phone? Do you pay at the park on the day of check in?
Thanks in advance.

Hello RRC and welcome.
You don't say how soon your trip is. If I make a payment for a trip that is still some time away I pay by EFT. If it is a booking that is just a few days away I pay at the first camp that I have booked into.
Enjoy your stay.

I am coming from the states and am worried about the new Covid restrictions for returning to the United States and am not sure what will be changing with the new presidency. Thanks again for the help.
Covid makes all the difference. Unfortunately, the USA is not doing well at the moment and I can't see it getting better

I am going to say that the best plan is to wait. I would be very worried about any air travel where there is an exposure to possible carriers.
Our country also has a more infectious variant at the moment so we are also concerned about tighter restrictions.
I know it is disappointing to have to make these kinds of decisions but the possible risks of covid are not worth taking.

Just trying to figure out what happens if we make reservations at San Park but are then unable to come. The last time we were in South Africa someone told us that if we made reservations by phone we didn’t have to pay at that time in case we were unable to keep the reservation and were just trying to see if that was correct.
Thanks again for the assistance.
We have a lot of people who have been in that situation. I know that Sanparks has also had to become more flexible. I hope someone from overseas can give you more info.
The mods will also be here soon. They usually have regular updates. I think they should be able to give more detail.
In the meanwhile, wishing you well and stay safe.

Warm welcome to the forum RRC99
Once you make your booking, whether it be by phone, e-mail or the On line Booking method you will receive an e-mail with your booking details and date by which your reservation must be paid for.
It will have payment details listed there.
Once you have paid then you then receive a confirmed booking e-mail.
I recommend you register for the On line Booking as you will be able to see your bookings and also be able to pay for them via a secure payment method.
Generally you will have 30 days plus to make any changes without penalty and inside 30 days of visit a sliding scale of modification fees apply.
Have a read through the Various Booking Methods and Info
but due to the Covid pandemic SANParks have had to become more lenient to clients and allow postponements within the 30 days without penalty if travel is cancelled/disrupted due to that.
More Covid Related Info
Please do ask if there is anything further you need to know.
Good luck.

Re: Phone Reservations Payment
As Elsa stated, your e-mail with your booking details will have a date by when you must pay.
I only ever make telephinic reservations, and once I have paid the deposit, I know the rest must be paid 60 days before the trip. If you make the reservation less than 60 days before your arrival, the payment is required almost immediately (they give a few days to allow for EFT payments).
The T&Cs on the booking form also states that a reservation will be cancelled if the payment date is missed.
Even when I made a booking 2 days in advance I had to pay immediately and could not pay at my destination camp.
I suggest you look at your reservation mail for the payment dates.

Re: Phone Reservations Payment
As Elsa mentioned registration for online bookings is helpful, easy to pay online then when payment is due. You can also download reservation letters although Sanparks are very good with sending you an email directly soon after payment is done! Good luck and I hope you manage to visit beautiful Kruger in the near future
