There's a link here http://www.thekruger.com/rangerstations.htm which shows the map and ranger stations at a larger size. It's good to have rain but I'm mindful that our visit in early 2013 had to be curtailed due to flooding.
Best wishes

Hi All,

I downloaded this list of road numbers and locations some years back and have updated it with the S147. I am not sure where this list originated from, so I cannot give the due credit, but it may be of help in finding the road locations of the KNP roads.

I have also uploaded a list of pans, waterholes and hides. I am not sure how up-to-date this list is, I have not updated it and a number of waterholes have been closed by SANParks due to their revised water policy. Again I am not sure where the list originated from, so I cannot give the due credit, but it may be of help.

Could someone please post the list of current road closures in Kruger Park?
At Skukuza currently but that information is not available.
I only found out the S36 closed, today, by arriving at the entrance and finding it blocked off. Same for S21 yesterday.

I post the road closures as soon as I receive them.
If I can try and explain.
The roads can be closed quite quickly as the rains happen, often overnight and when the busy rangers can get to inspect them and decide whether they are safe for guests to use or not.
Rivers and streams rise and fall very quickly in the park which makes it even more difficult to predict how long a particular road will need to be closed.
And of course the opposite happens as well.
So it could be a road would be listed as closed and then in a short time reopened making the advisory inaccurate.
It's only really in times of the big floods like last February that roads are so badly damaged and need closing for any length of time.

Thanks Elsa. I know what you are saying about short-term closures, sudden rains etc.
However, mine is a simple question (well I thought it was!) which I still don't have an answer to six days into my trip, despite asking at receptions.

It matters to me which roads are closed longer-term and those which I can then judge short-term closures due to rains.
For example, the S21 and S30.
I suspect the S3 between Kruger Gate and the S4 junction is closed longer-term.
I suspect the S102 (link to Mpondo) is closed longer-term.
I'm not sure about s21 and s30 (or others further north as I get there).
So, really it is those closures I have tried in vain to get hold of. In turn, that information helps avoid wasted mornings heading out to roads which are already closed.

I can say the S4 and S3 west of junction are now open; having just driven that way. I can say s65 is open too :)

For example, the S21 and S30.
as far as I know and according to the update from last year after the floods and repairs.

I have had it confirmed that the S30 is open.
so unless there is further damage due to the recent rains it should be open.

Excellent. 8)

But I promise I will post updates on any new closures as soon as I see them.
Otherwise we often depend on our members who are in the park to let us know, much like you have done.

Maybe looking at the sighting boards at camps and see if
there are any pins on roads you plan on driving to give a clue as to whether they are open or closed.
