Cricket@skukuza 2020

Unread post by Vlakvarkvrou »

Good day,
Will it be possible to let us know the dates for the 2020 cricket at Skukuza. I have to book early to enable me to pay of the accommodation.

Will it be Friday 28 Feb to Sunday 1 March or the next weekend 6 - 9 March 2020.

Friendly regards
The warthog family.

Still no news? I don't want to miss it but I also have to book early... Int'l flight rates have the tendency to soar to indecent levels the closer to dep date you book.

I'm just wondering why all these queries between July and September have been ignored? Is there no cricket this year? Are there no mods around? Or is it that no-one knows the answer?

Good day,
Thank you Elsa for at least answering on Salamanda's post regarding the cricket.

I think we can assume that there will be no cricket. Quite a few forumites from other countries have contacted me asking me if there is anything decided on the date for the cricket, as time is running out for them to make bookings.

Perhaps some of the male cricketers (Maargat Gerhard, Pardus (Willie de Beer) and some of the other forum players) can arrange an informal match with the Skukuza Men's team for a Saturday match. We can then organize a get together/braai for all of us in the Park at Skukuza or a brunch at for example Afsaal if not everybody is staying in Skukuza. We can also do something on the Friday.

I do not know if people have already booked for any period near end of February or beginning of March. Cricket is normally the first weekend of March - 29 Feb and 1 March 2020? The next weekend will be the 7th March.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Regards Vlakvarkvrou/Rina

Hi VVV - no not yet, we just have nothing concrete to report back here as yet. We have been asked to submit extensive proposals to SANParks, and then again - which I have done, and am waiting a response. I indicated the date is the most important.

I will see on Monday if I can at least get a date confirmation.

I accept that there will be no cricket. It would be nice if some forumites can indicate if they will be somewhere in the Park during the 1st week of March and we can have a kuier Brunch?) at one of the picnic sites that will be central to where most of us stay. Some people from overseas already indicated that they will not be here as it is to late for them to plan now. It would be nice to see some of you again.

Love VVV

VVV unfortunately no KNP this year or next but maybe 2021 !!!!! then we can have a groot kuier The old man says he want to be in Kruger near his birthday … That will make it 74 years since he first visited the park !!! Maybe they will even have cricket then !!!

Y'ello vriendin!

I'll be in the Park in March for sure but dates depend on cricket or no cricket. I can wait until the end of Oct but then I will have to finalise my plans. Flying south in 3 weeks and unlike many others: I don't do data when I'm in da bush!
I'll text you Nov details later today.
