Critical skills visa

Unread post by maatje2019 »

Hello,

We have entered South Africa on a critical skills visa, accompanying spouse and study visa.
Does the the critical skills visa count as a work permit? Because every time we want to apply for the wild card or want to enter one of the parks, we have to pay the international fee. Obviously this is a huge expense for a family living on one local salary. We don’t have a South African ID number. Also, the Activity Permit, is this R288 for SA ID holders and a different rate for international residents who are here on temporary (work/spouse/study) visas? We just adopted a rescue so we just want to make sure we do the right thing. Thank you for your advice, have a lovely day further

Hi maatje 2019, and welcome to the Forums.

I know that if we have a work permit we only get charged local rate for a Wild Card, but with a work permit we have a SA ID. I don’t know where you would stand with this Critical Skills Visa if you are not given ID?

I have a contact at WildCard so will ask advice, but she doesn’t work weekends, so it will have to be Monday.

Meanwhile maybe another member here might have had experience with this and can help you? :hmz:

Thank you for your help, a critical skills visa is a work permit with a temporary residency. It’s for five years so it doesn’t come with an SA I’d. Have a lovely day.

If it is classed as a work permit, you might be OK, but I will check for you, to be 100% sure.

Look out for a PM from me early next week.

Val, could you please post your findings here rather than by PM? I'm sure that this would be useful information for others in a similar situation.

Arks we have had this conversation several times before. :)

I might need personal details from maatje2019 to pursue the enquiry, so I will be using a PM not the open forum.

I will however briefly publish the final outcome when I have it.

Thank you for clarifying, Val. However, I do not think that mine was at all an unreasonable request to post the general information ON the forum.

Hi Arks
I had a reply from Wild Card, and have left a message for maatje2019, though it looks as though he has not picked up the message as yet. :hmz:

FYI, please read below the reply that I received from Wild Card.

"The client needs to send us a copy of the permits for both him and his wife to [email protected]. We need to check if the permits are valid first before we can agree if they can get a local cluster card.

If everything is fine, then they will receive a form that needs to be completed and sent back to us, so that we can capture details from our side, and send them the payment process over the website."

So there you have it.......... pending proof of a valid Critical Skills visa, it is possible to have a local rate Wild Card.
