How to create a Profile AVATAR for your profile

I was playing around looking for a new AVATAR and to be honest there was not one that I liked so
I checked on google if I could down load any and there were 1000's of them ... all of them 1500 pixels by 1500 pixels
now our Forum only takes AVATARS that are 70 pixels x 70 pixels and a max of 15kb (saved to disk apace)
so this is what I have learned ....
you can take any picture that you like in any format that you like (lower resolution pictures work best and easier to resize)
now open this picture in MSPAINT
click on the resize button on the top

change it pixels and change the highest number to 70 (the aspect ratio will adjust the other number accordingly)
Now save your picture as a GIF

GIF is a very low resolution picture and there you have a new AVATAR to pull into your profile

Thanks - but to someone who was born long before computers were invented, it is far too difficult!! I did try, a few years ago, to post an avatar, but couldn't do it.
