Dear Fellow Forum Browsers
Like most of you, I am a veteran Kruger visitor and lover. I recently sorted through my collection of old photographs and found it very interesting to compare the “then” with the “now”. It is fascinating to see how entrance gates, camps and other amenities and facilities have changed over the about sixty years I have been a Kruger fanatic.
I have now started to compile a collage of photographs and information comparing the “then” with the “now”. It has become so fascinating and absorbing that I have decided to compile a collection with as wide a range as possible of the then and the now photographs. In time I may bind these and some documents in some shape or form which should be of great interest and entertainment to all our fellow Kruger cronies who have visited the Park over many decades.
Should you also be fascinated with the changes in Kruger over the years and perhaps have some interesting photographs, maps, menus, or other memories stuck in an album or cupboard somewhere or just lying around, I would greatly appreciate it if you would send them to me to form part of this collage of the “then” and the “now” (with captions/dates). Should they form part of the final compilation, all contributors will obviously be acknowledged. Thanks to modern technology you do not even need to part with anything – scanning, emailing, and digital photography are here to stay!
I want to stress that this latest hobby of mine is not intended as an historical overview, nor a prestigious coffee table publication and absolutely not as a document to show how “bad” Kruger allegedly is “now” versus how great it was “then”.
Your feedback, input and thoughts will be highly appreciated. I can be contacted via email on [email protected] which is also the address to which you would send your contributions.
Many thanks
Ron Hopkins

Re: PAST & PRESENT
A very warm welcome Ronwyn.
I think that it is a wonderful idea. Preserving the past is so important and it gives us a important context for the present.
