Devastating bush fires ravaged the Western Cape over the past weeks - not only burning
indigenous forest and veld to ashes but also destroying villages and towns - with fatal

Our heartfelt sympathy goes to those who have lost loved ones in this terrible ordeal. We
are aware of the fact that no words, how kindly spoken and intended, could ever replace
the loss of a dear and beloved family member or friend.

However humanitarian aid could assist those who experienced bereavements and terrible
personal losses during this period and give those in peril a new lease of life. Rendering
humanitarian aid demonstrates to our fellow citizens that we care!

SANParks staff members have experienced terrible loss in life and possessions over the
last few days. Villages were destroyed by the bush fires - destroying homes, leaving many
families with absolutely no shelter, no clothing, and no food and water. Domestic animals
look forlorn and godforsaken. The raw pain and suffering is tangible.

The SANParks Honorary Rangers (SHR), the preferred partner of SANParks in nature
conservation, have been requested by SANParks to mobilise not only their own voluntary
members but also the local communities, business, industry and other humanitarian
organisations in support of these SANParks families who lost their all during these
devastating bush fires.

Rendering aid assistance (in cash) to these communities must be channelled through a
dedicated SHR account where all contributions, made by the public to this account, are
ring fenced for support of these SANParks members. SHR do not charge any
administration or banking fees and 100% of all donations received would be used for
rendering humanitarian aid.

The account details are:

Bank: Nedbank
Account number: 1585392448
Branch code: 158550
Account holder: Honorary Rangers NEC
Payment reference: WILD Disaster Relief

Send proof of payment to: [email protected]

Rendering aid assistance (in kind) to these communities could be channelled through
Frances Feig, Chairperson of the Regional SHR.

The contact particulars of the Regional Chairperson are:
Name: Frances Feig
Position: Chairperson, SHR Wilderness Region
Cell number: (+27) 082 559 3757
email address: [email protected]

Your urgent and generous support for this worthy cause will be highly appreciated.
