Here is one of my kiekies on the H14 at about 11:00 in the morning

My other 2 sightings was one at 14:00 near Olifants and one about 10:00 near Afsaal. So my times varies a lot and no early sightings for me. FC they are the most beautiful cat in the Park I believe

Did you see them all in the early morning or late afternoon or also during the day? And may I ask what was the second kill?
I know I'm very curious but these cats get me very excited

Hi flying cheetah

Most of my previous sightings were in the morning. The first caracal kill was on the H1-1 a few km before Skukuza - also a guineafowl, which the caracal caught in mid air. Spectacular to see!

KTP September 2012. Unfortunately this is not a good picture but as far as I know something you do not see very often:

Here are a few photos of a Caracal taken in KTP about 10K north of TR one interesting thing is that the cat is in South Africa, and our vehicle is in Botswana. Makes for an interesting story. By the way the light was superb. We will probably never get shots like this again. He/she hung around long enough for us to take about 150 photos.

Spotted my first Caracal in Kruger recently!! :D We were heading down the voortrekker road. I could not believe my eyes! Sat with it for about 40min before the approach of another car scared it off.

Do remember you don't have to go to Kruger to see a caracal. In about 20 visits, I have never seen one there! Kgalagadi yes, Addo yes, apparantly West Coast NP yes. A few weeks ago I even saw one cross the road at Helderberg College in Somerset West, and a friend Dwight Juby, saw another one about 1 km from there a bit higher up on the mountain at the same time.
So keep your eyes open wherever you are!

I was just going through the Caracal thread to see if I had posted a particular photo. I found this picture that I am re-posting as I think it is really quite remarkable.

Stunning shots, PJL! You are surely luckier than me...
I did eventually see my first caracal in Kruger near Balule in July, and saw another one this weekend in Somerset West... but no pictures!
Thanks for sharing,
