I’m not fussy, I would love to join you Grantmissy with a bottle of red, or you RDT with a single malt, in that idyllic setting! :D

…one day he was sitting with his eyes closed reading his Bible when he felt a sudden weight on the Bible and he looked up into the fierce face of a very big hungry lion…

The questions are:

What is the name of the town that fits the above?

Which SA National Park is close to this town?

Yes Mischief, well done you are correct

According to what is written regarding the history of the town of Beaufort-West in the Great Karoo the Reverend Fraser would often sit in the shade of a mimosa tree on the banks of the Gamka River just outside the village of Beaufort-West to meditate and to read his Bible. “One day the Minister was sitting with his eyes closed and looked up into the face of a lion”.

Not very far from this town are two of the SA National Parks.

In this town you will find:

The “Old Cross Church”. Apparently back then (imagine a very long time ago) when a well-known resident of this town passed away the church bells would ring the age of the person before the commencement of the funeral.

The remains of a house where a school teacher lived who kept an aeroplane in the backyard.

A house that was built by a Mister who was called Blik. He had three sons. He called the eldest son Groot Blik. The second eldest son he called Klein Blik. The youngest son who was the naughtiest of them all posed a problem as he wanted to name him in the tradition of Blik. So he named him Sim.

Clue: In this town is a house. The brother of Mr Blik let it to the young lady teachers of the local school. The house soon became known as “ Bachelors Hope”.

This town was founded in 1857 and named after its founder who owned the original farm. This town is known for its beautifully preserved and renovated Cape Victorian and Edwardian styled houses and buildings.

The questions are:

1) What is the name of the town that fits the above?
2) Name any of the two SA National Parks that are (relatively) not far from this town?

A Beloved English bulldog died during a visit to a town at/near this SA National Park in 1931. He (the beloved Bulldog) is commemorated at two places alongside an area where the surrounds are protected by Sanparks. He (the beloved Bulldog) was the much loved Mascot of a ship which gave him the right to draw an allowance for victuals from the Admiralty. He was buried just north of the old government warehouse which stood almost where the Sanparks building stands today. A life-size sculpture was created and donated by a local artist to remember this beloved Bulldog. His name was Bondi and he was the true and much loved Mascot of a ship a very long time ago.

Clue: “Peacefulness comes to a man when he sits by his own fire and rakes out his own sweet potatoes from under his own ash. As if something inside opens up slowly… Your eyes see things you did not see yesterday: the gossamer-fine moss twining round the blue buck rope… the specks of mauve in the feathers of the Grey Cuckoo-Shrike… Then one day, sitting in front of your shelter, you suddenly realise that the old leaves do not fall from the forest roof – they fluttered to the ground in a slow twirling flight like wings without bodies.”

The question is: Which SA National Park would you be visiting that relates to the above?
“Whether it's the best of times or the worst of times, it's the only time we've got.”

On the way to one of the SA National Parks is a town. This town was founded in 1855 as a church and market town to serve the area's sheep farmers. By 1872 the town had a population of 138 registered citizens living in 19 houses. This town is the coldest town in South Africa, with an average yearly temperature of 11.3 °C and an average annual minimum temperature of 2.8 °C.

In this town there are historical landmarks that may be of interest to the traveller: The Old English Cemetery, The Jewish Cemetery and the Dutch Reformed Church. In accordance with the nine planets of the solar system, several "Plinths" were built along the 1,2km main street of this town on scale to give the visitor an impression of the distance between the planets as well as the size of the planet to the size of the sun.

This distance between this town and the nearby SA National Park is approximately 120km.

The question - Which one of the following does not fit the SA National Park that is approximately 120km away from this town:

1) Turbid water
2) Place of the San
3) Thirst Land
4) Springbok
5) Impala
