Saw them at that exact spot on 13 Nov 2009, they lay under the same tree all day. The healthy one walked away a few times and it appeared that he was calling the injured one the whole time. After a while it would turn around and join it back under the tree!

I did see the cheetah brothers!

Right on the corner of the s39 and H7, they were there the whole day!

But, still the second brother is badly limping, and I can only suspect the injury to be quite serious... :hmz: Anyway, here are the pics

I saw these two cheetah on the 1st of Jan about 2 km west of the s36 turn-off ( closer to Orpen than Satara) They were deep into the bush but we watched them for about an hour then they got up and jumped onto a log!! The healthy one got up first followed by his brother! He was limping a bit but not heavily so maybe he is recovering, I dont know!!

Just spent a fabulous 8 days in the park with DOGMAD (SO).
Saw the injured Cheetah on Saturday 16th Jan 2010 on the Satara - Orpen tar road.
We were about 3 metres from the injured cheetah.
Took great photos of the pair, and will post pics later this week.
I must say that the injury is worst that what it appears, the cheetah only managed to get up and walk about 5 metres, before having to stop and sit.
We watched this for about a half an hour and she only managed to walk about 20 metres.
We took close up pics of the injured leg and it appears that the leg is badly broken, just above the ankle joint, and badly swollen, SANPARKS should intervene and fix this leg.
The partner of the injured cheetah is fat and healthy.
The injured cheetah also looks fat, but obviously cannot hunt and is relying on its partner.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP......

Will post pics soon, just busy sorting out pics.

Thanks for the info vida.

SANP will not interfere. It looks like the brothers have worked out some plan, but I wonder how long it will be before the injured one has to run for it.

I might be wrong, but we first saw the two brothers about three years ago in the same area. For some reason we named them Amber and Jaden.

One was already injured and limping at that time, and we saw them quite regulary since then.

The first time we saw them, a ranger stopped and enquired whether he was holding out. KNP obviously knew about the injury even at that time.

If they are the same ones, the injured one is obviously a fighter and the other brother a real carer!
The world is truly round and seems to start and end with those we love...

Maybe one of them 's the daddy. Will try to post some pictures later today. Then we can see the cheetahs roaming that part of the park.

A few photos of the male cheetahs. After a boring trip down the S21, we turned in to the S114 and from there in to the H5. We found the cheetahs about 3 kilo's before the turn to Mpondo dam. Only car, cheetahs all to ourselves for about 7 minutes before they went in to the veld. One of our best sightings thus far in Kruger.

Thank you to all for your 'who' responses. I am glad that I shared it with all so you can look out for these cubs that will be by now 'teenagers'. 8 months to go for us, then we will be in KNP again staying the full 10 days in southern part and hopefully we will be able to see some of then. By then they will be another 16months older. Guess this makes for interesting topic to research on i.e. growth pattern i.e. 3 mths old - 1 year - 18 months etc so we can more or less recognise them again.
