Photo Theme: Reflections

Unread post by Caracal » Mon Dec 07, 2009 1:50 pm

I enjoy taking photos of reflections…these photos have already appeared in my trip reports so apologies to those that have already read the reports and seen the photos.

I guess taking photos of animal’s reflections at the waterhole or in a rain puddle is the easiest.

Image

Some reflections happen with out you realizing it

Image

I have tried time and time again to recapture the reflection of our vehicle in an animal’s eye but it has never worked as well as the one above.

And some reflections just jump right out at you.

Any more photos of reflections out there ?????

Remember to keep your eye on your side mirror for reflections

Image

Unfortunately for me the side mirror on the passenger side is taken off when we are in the park because it is huge and obstructs my view somewhat...but I keep my eye on it en route !

I love this theme and I am enjoying all your photos so much

I am posting these, not because I think my photos are cool, but because I think Mapengubwe is cool. It is a place of light and shadow, unbelievable contrasts and off course reflections. These were all taken at the hide in winter. I was so sorry that I had to leave as early as I did, because I wanted to stay and watch the various times of day. Next time I will stay in Limpopo tented camp if I go in winter.

I'm not a great photographer but here's my reflections taken on a small farm dam in the Drakensburg

And another one, Same dam

Any critical comments to improve my technique would be appreciated

We recently visited Tankwa National Park.
The chalets are rustic. The architects design gives you a surround view of the Karoo from each area (even when using the loo) so too the shower. Each one has its own splash pool. No electricity.
Worth a visit if you are into Karoo scenery and isolated places.
