Lucky you, and to get close-ups! I also had one on the Sabie bridge in March'06.

Jehoshaphat, Great set of photos there, you really were lucky! Only ever seen one, and had no camera with me! :D Next time I hope to get some proof!

Finally it paid off going to Kruger every 6 weeks and waiting hours on end

Seen from the highwater bridge between Skukuza and Nkhulu.

Seen on the low water bridge over the Sabie River outside of Skukuza on 12 April, 2013. First time I have seen one, so I was chuffed to be able to ID it when I saw it. It was a brief sighting, as it swam up to the rocks, hopped out and disappeared into the reeds.

Best pics I could get

Finfoots are not the most of accommodating birds, DB. Your awareness and reaction are impressive; the resulting pix are bragworthy show pieces!

It was 21 June 2013 - our 10th wedding anniversary! We were in KNP, wondering what gift she would give us for our anniversary... :hmz:

Then at the famous bridge on the H12 between Skukuza and LS:

Great rare sighting Bushbuddies

Saw my first one ever Finfoot this weekend and took some great images.
(With all the rules changes I don't know if I can still upload them...please let me know if I must delete them...taken at Loskop dam)

We were watching him hunting dragon flies and chasing the Little Grebe.

Then he decided to pose out of the water....
(took many images...)
