Webcam time-lapse movies on YouTube

Unread post by SANParks » Tue Jun 23, 2009 9:03 am

Dear all,

From now on you will be able to watch webcam movies on YouTube - time-lapse video feeds of the last 24 hours squeezed in 3 minutes. :)

Bishop3006 will be assisting in administering the movies on YouTube and will communicate with you on the forum. Please feel free to share your views about which movies seem more exciting and warrant to be archived permanently on YouTube's SANParks account.

The movies can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/sanparks

Enjoy!

You guys mustn't thank me - I'm not doing anything. You must thank the guys from SANParks who first of all came up with this idea, and then actually went through with it.

Me? I just get to watch the videos and decide whether there's enough, or unique enough, traffic to warrant keeping them, else I delete them. That's all. I just get to do what we all do anyway!

I guess it is time that I show that I am at least pretending to do something!

Not sure yet how we'll handle this going forward, and whether we'll move this to one or more different sticky notes or what, but here's what I'm going to do. When I watch the videos to determine whether they're staying or going, I'm making notes for myself what action is on the cams. I add these to the comments of the video itself on YouTube, so that visitors to YouTube who see it there can at least read those comments (I know I always read the poster's comments.)

What I'll do is to post the same comments here when I link to a video. I'll be posting the links to a couple here tonight, and will hopefully from now on be able to do so on a regular basis. I'm way behind but hope to catch up in the next week or so.

Especially look out for the martial eagle at around 1225. The rest is the usual traffic of hyaena, zebra, impala, buffalo, blue wildebeest, steenbok and jackal. And always lots of birds.

Nah, I just watch them - the SANParks people are the ones doing the work.

Satara Cam 2009-06-24

The usual traffic of Steenbok, Blue wildebeest, Zebra, Impala, Buffalo, Hyaena and Jackal. And of course, always the feathered friends.

Nossob Cam 2009-07-02

See some Blue wildebeest, Jackal, Springbok and Gemsbok/oryx. But the novelty here is the close-ups when the web guru remotely plays with the zoom from his office: Blue wildebeest, the area, the hide/lookout, and people inside it, right next to the cam. (Remember that these are the exact same comments I attach to the video for the world to see/read, not just the initiated here at the forums...)
