Billy baboon loved popcorn
He ate it from dusk to dawn
He loved his missus, but to share he was torn
so she sprinkled it with crushed peppercorn
Billy ate it, tongue on fire, and was sorry he was born!

Popcorn, chewing gum, peanuts and bubblegum..
Are mostly not things for an animals tum
But, let's face it, grass is boring
and the urge for a snack can be quite alluring
So indulge, and avoid at all costs the humdrum

The porcupine and the hedgehog
Sat up with a start! ..hoping they could race the warthog
warthog ran faster... the lion was after him...
racing past the church...he could hear the closing hymn...
But then he was swallowed by a passing fog

Those often empty rivers were raging torrents
sadly for some it will be their death warrants
Happy were the crocs and hippos though
they just went deep in the turbulent flow
Ther crocs feasting on the helpless animals - how abhorrent!

The sun shone out over the still flooded valley
as the people began to rally,
Blankets, clothing and even some shoes
were lost in the muddy ooze
But help continued to pour forth without dally

I wish the death penalty to all rhino killers
an emotive subject and a real tear spiller(s)
Can't believe humans can be so cruel
it is breaking every rule
Those who guard our rhinos in the community are real pillars!

The squirrel was nibbling on stored nuts and seeds
which he has stolen from the bird table feeds...
this was short lived as the birds had other plans
They wrote a notice of "Squirrel Bans"Image"
Fur and feathers flying he dashed off at speed, into the reeds.

The Leopard retrieved his huge lunch
Which next day turned into brunch
Although an eclipse was darkening the sky
All that was could be seen were shining eyes ..why oh why
In Darkeness He stepped on a log that went crunch

The honey badger was scratching in the bin
"WRINKLES

The honey badger was scratching in the bin
Disgusted... he move on as there was only an empty tin
Used to fillet mignon and caviar
he had ideas above his station by far
Well is that really such a sin.

old mother hyena went to her cupboard
almost empty! what could she afford?
Smelly old bones were her favourite you see
and just what she fancied for her tea,
She added gravy and just gnawed and gnawed

Simon the snake slithered along

Simon the snake slithered along
when he came across monkeys playing mahjong
They screeched and they hopped
as the tiles they swopped
Then snake slithered away, after all it had done nothing wrong!

Then Sally Snake slithered after Simon

Ecojunkie was chasing the ellies
They were after the marula berries
Ecojunkie belied her small shape
Marulas rained down on the ellies who had a lucky escape
With EJ chasing them their legs felt like jellies.

Looks like that marula tree causes trouble every year
Ever so much more than a grape, an apple or a pear
The ellies find EJ throwing fruit very funny
Making EJ work overtime for her money
thats the problem she is an HR volunteer!!!

Its windy on Table Mountain tonight
The air has that Capetonian bite
We hope that nobody drops a "stompie" (cigarette butt)
Fires can be devastating and could kill the bokkie and burn the hut (please excuse my poetic license, Trrp)
So fires we must with all our might fight
