Identification Help - Raptors

Unread post by Rookie » Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:24 pm

I became interested in birds by default in March 2011 as the grass in KNP was so high that we could not see anything unless it was in a tree or on the road.

We saw so many raptors and I would like some help with some of these.....they could all be the same type of bird for all I know!

They would all have been taken in the south of the park. To clarify, these were taken at the beginning of Nov 2011.

Thanks for helping the newbie out.

Hi guys, I'm back from KNP and am preparing my trip report. I would like to ask some help identifying some raptors we saw or confirming my ID's. All were seen around the Pretoriuskop/Phabeni area in the past four days.

I|saw this bird near Lower Sabie at the end of October and thought it was a juvenile fish eagle but the bright yellow eye has me confused. I D would be really appreciated.I wondered about a juvenile snake eagle but the bill looks too heavy.Hoped it might be a young osprey but I don't think so, really.
The pic is very cropped, sorry.
