Hi everyone,
I need some information and would appreciate some help.
We will be camping on # 27 and 28 in January next year (5 nights) in an off road caravan and tent.
Anybody with some photos of the sites?
How level are they, is rain water a potential problem (> than normal) it will be hot so we need shade but the sun for fixed solar panel, this possible?

Any other relevant info will be HIGHLY appreciated

We have been to Tsendze twice - have camped on no 6 and no 26. Both are great and on the fence.
If I have to choose between the two I will go for no 6.
Has by far the best shade.
A bit far away from the ablutions - ablution block right opposite no 26.
Booked again for December   on 26 as 6 was already taken!

You will most probably be spared from noisy neighbours at site # 3 as it is probably the most private and in great demand from Tsendze fans .
When I was last at Tsendze I observed several campsites with unattended off road caravans & trailers parked apparently as if ready to be hooked to the tow vehicle .
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

Always assume mosquitoes are a problem especially in the summer months. Take precautions against them.

No 21 has got very nice shade. No's 27 and 28 are good for larger group (as well as 5 and 6)

Hi there Super Mongoose! My first choice would be site no 6 - on the fence and lots of wonderful shade. Asked for it for our upcoming visit in December but it was already taken. So we settled for our second choice no 26.
I would not recommedn no 25 - almost no shade. :D

I confirmed #26 today - the only ones already taken were #3 and #6.....

Has anyone stayed at Tsendze for more than a week, if so, please give me some advise.

Hi Super Mongoose,

I've stayed there for 10 days and mainly used a battery system. The one is connected to the fridge and other one in the car for the smaller fridge. We have a battery charged system in the car and that ensure the battery gets charged regurlary. A battery will not last a week therefor we swapped around every 4th day.

Another tip is too keep your meat in the communal fridge, but check that its working. We found that some-one had closed the gas and the fridge started defrosting. Rodger is a great help so ask him if found that its not working.

Luckily Mopani is very close for stocking up on drinks or to get something to eat. You can also use the swimmimg pool there.

Although no monkeys in the camp you need to ensure your tent / trailer is closed. The tree-squirrels invaded our trailer chewing on the plastic holders and even toothbrushes that were in our toiletry bags. Luckily they could not get to the food.

Thje gate rule is very simple - open and close it yourself. After closing make sure the chain is around the post so that elephants won't be able to push it open. They often pass the camp and may try to enter.

Last I think is to ensure you pack in torches. The bathrooms do have lights running on solar power, but its possible that the batteries ran flat.

Hope you enjoy your time there.

Hi Super Mongoose

We've also stayed there for 10 days but in a caravan. Like Son Godin we also used a battery system - the one in the caravan powered the lights and the one in the car kept the off-road freezer going. We are fortunate in that our elderly caravan still has a 3-way fridge so that operated off gas. Last time we were there, our neighbours were running their fridge/freezer and lights from a solar panel/inverter and this seemed to work well.
Believe that Tsendze has had new freezers installed ( about May this year) and that they are more efficient than the old ones.
If you run out of supplies either go to Mopani or,better still, take a leisurely trip into Phalaborwa - it's a nice round trip for a morning.

Congratulations Rodger and Elina!!!
Galago, we stayed at no:15 last year, it is suitable for a caravan and has lovely shade, but not near the perimeter. Having said that we loved it, it is private and no too far from ablutions. Will look for a pic to post for you!

hattys, I hope you don't mind me answering on behalf of rodger  , there are communal freezers to store your meat and other goods. Tsendze will never disappoint and neither will Rodger and Elina. Mooiplaas picnic site is right next door to the camp, and lots of loops to drive along. You WILL have a trip to remember.

For a motorhome I recommend site 5 or 6. There are large, but high trees, and the site is next to the fence.

The Regans, a warm welcome :gflower: , site number 26 is a favourite of ours, close to the abultions and also very open. You can call Mopani camp and reserve the site that you decide on (if it is available). When you arrive in the Kruger, just remember that you have to go to Mopani to check in for Tsendze then once that process has been completed you then carry on down to Tsendze. Tsendze will never disappoint.
