The other cams at the respective waterholes will be retrieved next week and then we would have to see what was caught on camera.

During the last week the lions have made several kills (Eland) just behind Twee Rivieren camp, it was the perfect opportunity to try and place a trap cam at one of the kills and HOPE that the lions would leave the cam alone and allow us some insight while they were feeding. Before putting up the cam we had to wait until the lions left to set up the cam

Here are some of the pics.

Then the eland was pulled out of sight of the cam.

And that is it...Guess we all should go and do some work now :wall:

Morning All,

Herewith some pictures taken on the 4x4 route at Witgat Campsite.

When the cam was retrieved it was found lying on its side, it seems that some Eland played with the branch where the cam was on and then some lions thought it was a plaything and took a bite of the cam. There are some teeth marks in the infra red sensor. The cam will be put back into action as soon as the problem has been solved.

Hi there

Lately many guests would complain about the waterholes not having water, as you can see in some of the clips that the culprits are the Eland which will come and drink at night and they empty the waterholes not giving the pumps enough time to refill the waterholes, so it is not that we do not maintain the waterholes it is just that the Eland is currently the problem.

Morning All,

Some good news and BAD news.....It seems that the lions have had their fun with the cam trap on the 4x4 route and decided to return it. Well the cam has seen much better days but luckily the SDF card is still fine and here are some pics taken off it. Dont know i fthe cam is still alive - will have to test it.
