Would you believe people stopped their car & discarded this cross Dachs / Foxy (?) on a busy street corner ?
It is now in good care .
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

We have four Pekingese "children". Since these pictures are already on Photobucket, I will use them again.

I can never get all four of them into one picture, they are too busy.

On the first picture, from left to right, Rudolph (will be 14 human years in June), Barend (turned 11 end of March this year), Carla (will also be 14 in November this year), and in the 2nd picture, Frederick (will be 5 in October this year.) I got each one of them when they were 6 weeks old.

They go to very special kennels when we go to Kruger, and they love the place, because those people love them too. Although they look sad when we are leaving, the owner normally sends me a sms later on to tell me all is well.

We normally take them to the kennels (46 kms from our home) at 8 in the morning, so that we can start packing. We do not pack in their presence, because they stress too much.

Barend became blind when he was 3 years old. We then had lenses (imported from Germany) transplanted at the Eye Clinic for Animals in Johannesburg, and he still sees very well until today.

Rudolph is really getting old now, and has rhumatism and can't walk properly without his medicine. Carla's kidneys are starting to give problems, and there is nothing we can do about that. It seems that time for tears is not too far away. I hate to even think about that!

I am just going to share something quickly with fellow animal lovers.

I did not have a good long weekend. :( My Ballinese, Casper disappeared at the start of the weekend and despite calling, searching, walking everywhere, I could not find him.

Despite being highly pedigreed, Casper is a rescue animal from a Kitty Haven. He is possibly the most loving and affectionate cat I have ever owned. He is sensitive to cold and allows me to share his bed with him at night. In the daytime, he tries to make sure that I don't strain my eyes by reading too much, by lying on any page I might have open.

He is a never ending purr bag.

By Wednesday, I had given Casper up for dead.

I had to take someone to Park Station at 5am and as I was about to leave, I heard a cat climbing through the laundry window. It was Casper.

Poor baby. He is very ill. He had not eaten for days and seems to have flu. In a couple of minutes I am leaving to take him for his second injection. This morning he drank water without choking for the first time.

I am for the first time feeling hopeful that I truly have my gentle, sweet Casper back.

Casper with my daughter.

Hilda, Barry, my deepest sympathy. I know how much a little creature can snuggle into the heart.
