Hi all

Many thanks to the IT team for getting the cams back up and running - it's really appreciated. I was rather shocked to see that domestic dog in the Orpen Cam highlights, and I'm also very thankful it turned out to be part of an elite poaching unit :D On a sidenote, we had a great sighting of an AWC in broad daylight at Nossob today. Hi all!

Well the rains have really set in. It's great to see the greenery starting to peek through, even if we have to sacrifice a few sightings! The Egyptian Geese have returned to Orpen and Satara, although there were no mammal sightings. Addo has been less affected by the rains, and we started off today we a nice sighting of zebra. They were distant, as usual. I wonder why they like to stay on that side? A herd of kudu was later spotted, followed by a large herd of buffalo. Nossob has, obviously, maintained its sightings. A black-backed jackal could be seen hunting birds at the waterhole and a good-sized herd of wildebeest was milling around. What may have been the same herd returned at around midday on two separate occasions and also shared the waterhole with another BBJ and some springbok. Wildebeest, springbok and BBJ all returned in the evening. Also, a special congratulations to Vinkie for 10,000 posts! 8) 8) 8)

Today's sightings:

BBJ x3
Buffalo x1
Kudu x1
Springbok x3
Wildebeest x9
Zebra x1

As you may have guessed, I'm going to try to restart my daily sighting reports. It'll be hard work, but it's good fun!

Friday's results:

1. No. 1, AWC hunting birds on 16 points
2. No. 2, Domestic dog on 6 points
3. No. 6, Kibo minding an ellie on 5 points
4. No. 7, Oryx pair on 4 points

Congrats to Schtick, you got the right combination!

Please choose just the 2 sightings today:

1. BBJ eyeing up birds
Image

2. Large buffalo herd
Image

3. Kicking up dust
Image

4. Addo kudus

5. Heavy rain

6. Distant zebras

Hi all

Sightings have certainly picked up a bit today. There were the usual crepescular black-blacked jackal sightings at Nossob last night, along with a nice pair of oryx. Buffalo and elephant could be seen late into the night at Addo. This morning BBJ and wildebeest returned to the Nossob waterhole, along with several herds of elephant at Addo. A lone wildebeest was the only sighting of a mammal at Orpen today. During the afternoon we enjoyed a patch of great sightings. A pair of cheetah was spotted by Lujoli at Nossob. Magnificent! There were also sightings of kudu and warthog at Addo and some very impressive elephant at Satara, sharing water with BBJs. A wildebeest followed them to the waterhole later. Buffalo and elephant sightings continued well into the evening at Addo, as did BBJ sightings at Nossob.

Addo:

Buffalo x4
Elephant x7
Kudu x1
Warthog x1

Nossob:

Black-backed jackal x7
Cheetah x1
Oryx x1
Wildebeest x1

Orpen:

Wildebeest x1

Satara:

Black-backed jackal x2
Elephant x2
Wildebeest x1

Yesterday's results:

Daily -

1. No. 2, Large buffalo herd on 7 points
2. No. 4, Addo kudus on 3 points

Weekly -

1. No. 4, Brian in broad daylight on 15 points
2. No. 10, AWC hunting birds
3. No. 6, Close up wildebeest on 6 points

Hi all

Last night got us off to a great start with an extended African Wild Cat sighting at Satara. In the early hours there was a large herd of buffalo at Satara and also a retreating duiker at Orpen. As evening set in there were several scrub hare to be seen at Addo, another duiker at Orpen and many sightings at Satara. These were more buffalo, a hyena, wildebeest and a black-backed jackal!

Addo:

Kudu x1
Scrub Hare x2

Orpen:

Duiker x2
Impala x1

Satara:

AWC x1
BBJ x1
Buffalo x2
Spotted Hyena x1

Hi all

Isn't it fantastic to have the live cam at Orpen? It really gives you that extra sense of being in the bush! At Orpen it seemed rather quiet early on, bar a few kudu and an impala. However, that all changed with the wonderful sighting of a wild dog! Unbelievable!! During the day, Satara witnessed zebra, wildebeest and a ground squirrel, with a small herd of buffalo coming to drink later on. Last night, buffalo and scrub hare visited Addo and today they were followed by kudu and elephant, along with some gorgeous shots of Kibo, thanks to Danie. Nossob was full of generic game such as oryx, wildebeest, springbok and BBJs.

Addo:

Buffalo x1
Elephant x2
Kudu x1
Scrub Hare x2

Nossob:

BBJ x3
Oryx x2
Springbok x3
Wildebeest x5

Orpen:

African Wild Dog x1
Impala x1
Kudu x2

Satara:

Buffalo x1
Ground Squirrel x1
Wildebeest x1
Zebra x1

Yesterday's results:

1. No. 1, African Wild Cat on 12 points
2. No. 7, Big group of cape buffalo on 7 points
3. No. 3, Impalas testing their strength on 3 points

I got the right combination
