This post is not in the spirit of the thread, and I apologize for that, but I have recently been told by a mine official that a bottle of Amarula is sold for up to R1500,00 to the illegal miners, called Zamma Zammas in the mines. Illegal miners are a big problem in our area, and they believe that Amarula will give them some sort of protection against AIDS and other diseases. (BTW, a loaf of bread can fetch up to R400,00) Some illegals stay up to three months underground.

Rooies these peeps and their absurd medicinal concoctions!!!!! If rhinos doesn't cure cancer then Amarula cures HIV :slap:
The only thing Amarula does is to further our enjoyment of the bush/wild/red dunes that we all love so much :)

Do not tell that to the users of rhino horns. Perhaps we can convince them that Amarula is also a cure for many ailments in Asia, and that Amarula is much cheaper. Think about how many gallons of the stuff will be exported. (In that case, I want to buy shares in the manufacturing company.)

Amarula

Velvety liquid poured over ice
sitting on my wooden deck gazing into the distance
sweet nectar infusing my lips with the taste of Africa,
to the sound of the wild I offer no resistance

I'm entranced by the melting colors of red, pink and yellow
as the sun makes its way to another bushveld not seen
The creamy concoction calmly soothes my soul
and I think back on the roads and places I have been

The crisp taste of the marula fruit lingers on my tongue
as I look at the grey big tusker returning to his waterhole
and a grin spread across my face as it dawns upon me:
he shared the same taste of the fruit in its whole

A bond has been made between me and this giant
a moment that will linger in my thoughts for all time
an ice cold droplet wakes me out of my reverie
experiencing paradise through Amarula is just sublime
