I watched this small breeding herd of ellies come down to Domkrag Dam Waterhole for a drink.

Caracal Sighting

While traveling in Addo I spotted this caracal in this stalking position. I quickly stopped my car a and took this pic.

I kept my camera focused on her hoping for a pounce and kill but that never happened.

Instead she relaxed and moved to stand in the shadow for a brief moment.

She then quickly moved on and disappeared into the thick Addo bush

Great sighting Ronnie... nice that she stuck around long enough for some photos

So where is that on the map? :hmz: Just to the south of Marion Baree?

J.J. that zebra of yours needs a dentist very urgently!! Can understand why the other one is turning it's face away!

Ronnie L. it's nice to see the sea in the background behind the zebra.

Caracal - Awesome !!

Advice please folks. My husband and sons left Durban for PE at 2am this morning as my sons are cycling at the SA MTB XCO (Mountain Bike Cross Country) near Addo. They are dying to go into the park as it will be a first time experience for them and they are staying close by and cycling nearby. Is there any particular route/road that you recommend - their stay is very short and time limited - they return on Sunday to Dbn

Thank you

Hi Charming1,

I'm presuming that they will be entering at the Main Camp entrance.
There is a sightings board outside the shop at the Main Camp.
Do have a look at this as this will indicate where the game has been sighted.
By the sound of things your time will really be limited.
I therefore recommend the loops around the Woodlands area.
I wish them pleasant sightings and a memorable visit to Addo.
Maybe one day you can all return as a family. :D
