Kestrel of some kind? Perhaps Ronnie or someone else can clarify?

This time I'm hoping to do a day trip with the same mobile cam running plus a new 'close-up' cam... hopefully you'll be able to see some of the smaller or more distant creatures more clearly

As yet I haven't finalised when the day trip will be. But it'll be sometime between tomorrow (Saturday 11th) and Thursday 16th Feb. We're trying to keep our plans quite flexible for meeting up with friends here, but as soon as I have a firm date I'll let you all know.

Let's hope there are some exciting sightings

 That is excellent news!!!
Very much looking forward to going on a drive with you again!

Quick update... time is running out a bit for our holiday here in SA :(
So, due to time constraints I will be aiming for a morning in Addo rather than the whole day. Current plan is Wednesday morning

Also, if you take a look at http://www.leylandfamily.com/webcam.aspx you will now see that I have added a 'Close-up Cam'. This will be running from the photos taken on my camera... I've written some software that allows the camera to transfer images direct to my laptop, then resize and upload. Hopefully you'll all be able to see some of the smaller animals in the park, or closer views of the larger ones

So... Wednesday as the gates open at 7am is the current plan. The only other possibility might be tomorrow morning, but I will confirm this evening

All confirmed for Wednesday morning

Do we have any requests for routes? You can check the park map here http://www.sanparks.org/images/parks/maps/main-game-colchester-area-map.jpg - I'll be entering through the Colchester entrance again by Camp Matyholweni, and I'm quite open to ideas of where to head from there

Let's hope the lion are still around and keen to show themselves. Yesterday, friends of ours saw the same brothers we saw on the previous trip

Despite adding an extra cam to the live cam page (http://www.leylandfamily.com/webcam.aspx), I haven't made any alterations to the way the site refreshes images... so although it should refresh automatically, in reality I would recommend doing a manual refresh regularly

What would mites like to see up close? Personally I'd like a nice close sighting of Eland. They often tend to stay well away from the tracks in Addo, so I'm hoping for some a bit closer this time :D

Hi PJL :D :D

This is such exciting news - another Leyland family Addo adventure

Unfortunately I'll be sound asleep over the other side of the world, so I will miss the live cam feeds

Nonetheless, I'll donate R200 for the mobile webcam project

Plus I pledge:

R200 for a close-up eland sighting
R200 for a close-up caracal sighting
R200 for a lion sighting
R500 for a leopard sighting 8) 8) 8)

Have a fabulous day

BTW, if we can wish for certain loops - I'll choose the leopard loop.

No, seriously, all loops in the Colchester section would be
great - apart from Harvey's that is. Haven't heard of exciting sightings there?

Harvey's loop was a bit long and very quiet last time we were there. Perhaps the other (leopard) loops around the southern section to start with... possibly even doubling back now and then to try and maximise lion possibilities. After the southern section has been fully checked I'll head up towards Harpoor and then on up to Carols Rest.

Here's to a quiet morning for you Spookie

Right... camera equipment all clean and ready for the dust of Addo.

Gates open at 7am (SA time) so there should be images coming from the park shortly after that
