Belated thanks, brian, but I'm also puzzled, because I thought that agamas have a rather "spikey" skin and this one looks to be smooth skinned? :hmz:

It's a Southern Rock Agama (Agama atra). They are a lot smoother than the other "normal" Agamas, and as their name implies they frequent rocks more than the other species such as the ground Agamas.

Spotted this bright fellow by the Pool in Lower Sabie, he was either doing a Love dance for another more orange Agama or threatening it to chase it away. Not sure which but he was magnificent. Spent a full 20 min taking pics cause he was quite happy to let me.
