Hi Jimmymcp
Welcome to the forums and yes you may enter the park with motorcycles and are allowed to stay in the camping site.

Dear All,
Jimmymcp (welcome to the forums enquired about motorcycles allowed in Augrabies camping spots and was replied to by Dotty and Augrabies Guru.
Thanks to both of them !
I don't think that Jimmymcp would necessarily want to read more than he asked for.
I am going to split this off to be continued, if you should want to do so, elsewhere.

Split to here.

I have been in almost all of the chalets in the 50ies numbers
There is no chalet in front of you, and when you have nice neighbours nice chatting over the braai

@Guru why did they stop with the upgrade of the chalets and did not do these with view ones, budget??? Ok there is a new airco system and blinds, the rest is exactly as it was.
I'm not asking for tv's, but perhaps a little microwave and the shelter against the sun outside, biggest wish a showerhead which is not build for dwarfs.
It doesn;t stop us however to visit the park every year since 2004!

Jonkers you are right, its due to budget constraints, but according to management the other 24 units will hopefully be done in the next 5years.

Dear all

I couldn't find any information on the possibility to drive with sedan 2x4 vehicle on the pads of Augrabies Falls NP. Can anybody help, even with a map?

Thanks in advance,

Hi papageno111
Welcome to the forums, you will be able to drive up towards Oranjekom which is one of the viewpoints in the park, the other roads is 4x4 only, even with a sedan 2x4 vehicle the clearance might be to low due to the trenches on the road, hopes it help.

Has something changed in access by a normal sedan? I've visited Augrabies twice in a sedan and been able to visit all the main viewpoints — Ararat and Echo Corner as well as Oranjekom — just not the part of the park beyond what's marked as the "escape route" on my little map (which dates from my 2007 visit).

No need to be confused — any more than I am by AG's post :? — but here's a link to the little map that I refered to. I was able to travel all the way to the road marked "escape route" in my VW Polo. For me, traveling solo, a 4x4 is prohibitively expensive and not worth the extra cost. I prefer to spend my funds on more nights in the parks! But that choice may be different for you. However, you do not IMO "need" either a 4x4 or a higher clearance vehicle (also more expensive than a sedan) to visit most of Augrabies.

You will be able to drive to all the look-out points as you mentioned Arks, except to fonteintjie,in total it would be 4points which you can reach in a sedan vehicle,up to now the reception inform all tourist of the above, the part after fonteintjie as you have also mentioned the escape route are not open for sedan vehicles, due to the stape of the roads. Please let me know if the above is also unclear.
