Problems with Canon EF 16-35/2,8 II USM

Unread postby Wild Dog Fan » Sun Jan 23, 2011 11:06 am

Since two years or so I am using a Canon EF 16-35/2,8 II USM with my (analogue) Canon EOS 1V. The results were disapointing in terms of sharpness.

I sent camera and lens to an authorised workshop for calibration, but after the first test exposures, results are still not as expected with a lens of that class. The funny thing is, pictures taken in a distance of 1-2 meters are excellent. I have also the impression that the closer I am getting to the 16mm mark of the zoom lens the more "soft" and fuzzy the pictures are. :wall:

Is anybody out there who has similar experiences ?

Best regards

Gert

That's odd, it's supposed to be one of Canon's best lenses.
Have you tried it on another body?

And... Are you using an UV-filter?
Not posting much here anymore, but the photo's you can follow here There is plenty there.

Thanks for quick response...no, I did not make a try with an other body up to now.
But that is not a bad idea of course. On the other hand, all other leses are working well with the camera.

And yes, I am using a skylight filter (B+W KR 1,5 1,1x MRC).

I will try to do some test pictures with/without filter today.
