Photo Theme: Unusual Animal Photographs

Unread post by Ranred » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:58 pm

On a recent trip to Kruger I stayed at Satara. When checking in I noticed very, very unusual pics of a buffalo and another of an impala. The buffalo's horns were about twice the normal size and drooped way below the buffalo's head and the impala's horns resembles those of a big sable!!

Does anyone have photos of very bizarre animals? :hmz:

EMBARRASSING Bodies

Unread post by Waterbuck » Mon Jan 27, 2014 11:09 pm

Hi Forumites
I feel like a new interesting thread (not that there isn't already many others). Not sure if this is going to work, but I have conjured up a thread titled "EMBARRASSING Bodies".........
Slow down all ye critics.........here is my plan:
This thread will be for photos of animals caught in an embarrassing position (stuck up a tree, slipping at a waterhole, biting off more than they can chew, with a rained out hairdo, with mud on their face etc etc etc) or for animals with a funny expression or with a particular body odyssey like a broken horn, an extra leg, a skew bill or a weird fur marking.
Straight off the bat I want to add that pictures of road kill and/or animals suffering are not called for as it will not be in the spirit of the thread (this is me trying to sound like a mod) :rtm:
I know there is a bum-shots thread, but I suppose those pics can be posted here also. I also don't mind pics of animals making bacon, but lets try and get some other interesting stuff also. But please keep it relevant to the parks and don't post a pic of your neighbor's pink poodle :slap:
I learnt the hard way that commenting on all posts on a thread that you start (see 3 species or more in one photograph thread) is a lot of work, so don't expect any ratification of material posted other than by comments (hopefully) from fellow forumites. Enjoy the threat and I hope it becomes popular.

Let me open the floor: Kruger impy with one horn:

Hi manicwalker - didn't mean to direct the comment about offended people to you at all. Sorry if it sounded that way. Was just worried that the high number of viewers was a sign of people looking and leaving. I believe there is a interests (at least for me) in posting odd, embarrassing animals and animal behavior, provided it is done in the right spirit.
Don't want to limit this threat to off horns only, but here's another:

Hi there Waterbuck,Image thread Image Had a look through my pics, cant really find anything to fit in here, but then I noticed that Werner_Patat showed us how the elephants could be used to "put fires out" Image

I did find one Lady in that same theme, I think she has a real gentleman as a husband/boyfriend--------------------------------------------------------------------------------or so I have heard mentioned a couple of times in my life by women over the years-- I suspect her "Man" listened for a change and ImageImageImage "PUT THE SEAT DOWN" Image
