Really stunning pics Kaapsedraai!
We tried to see the moon rise but the horizon was so hazy it was a wasted effort but did see it some time later when it had risen further.

14 November 2016 - SUPER Moon
You might be interested how the Super Moon looked like from our side of the Africa-continent here in Cape Town.

This was taken from my home and if you are perhaps interested in the camera settings, here we go:
I have experimented with 2 types of settings i.e. TV-mode and Manual-mode, but the best was the Manual-mode.
Mode: Manual
F-stop: f/8 (this was the 'lowest' I was allowed to go)
Exposure time: 1/640 sec.
ISO: 640 (the first photo's ISO was 1600 which picked up a lot of grain)
Focal length: 400 mm
I rested the camera on my bean bag for best stabilisation.

Trust this could be of help. :D[/quote]

Really stunning pics everyone, thanks for sharing!
we unfortunately as per usual didn't get to see it due to heavy cloud the whole time but even so I was amazed at how bright it was despite the clouds.

11 April 2017 - Pink Moon
It occurs when the sun and moon are on the exact opposite of each other but the moon will stay its natural colour - despite what the name might indicate.

April’s full moon, the Pink Moon, heralds the appearance of moss pink, or wild ground phlox—one of the first spring flowers in the northern hemisphere. It is also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon. And no, it is not pink or salmon coloured.

In the southern hemisphere, the Pink Moon got its name from the onset of pinkish cheeks on locals, signalling the approach of colder weather.

Another closer look at the 'pink' moon.
