Hello there,
I had to google Darling to find out where it is. And apart from Malmesbury, Cape Town was the closest city on the website.

I have copied and pasted the info directly off the website. (http://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/me ... inids.html)
Hopefully this will be a spectacular event.

Geminids meteor shower for Cape Town (Night between 12 Dec and 13 Dec)

I loved Sedgefield.
Many years ago I did a road trip from Durban to Cape Town, and I got lost in Sedgefield for 10 days going down to CT, and on my way back home I stayed another week.
It definitely is a stunning part of the coast.
I hiked in Jubilee Creek, swam in the Storms river mouth, canoed on the river and met amazing people.

Hopefully the meteor shower will be a memorable part of your escape from Jozi.

thanks BG

Actually Malmesbury (32km to the east) is closer to Darling than is Cape Town (70km to the south)

Hi Everyone,

We were in Addo this past weekend and Friday evening and Saturday evening was overcast.... Sadly not a star seen nor a hint of any meteor shower.
But Sunday the 13th was wow!
Not a breath of wind, a little nippy though....
We went on the night game drive which ended at 9pm. The last half hour I was leaning backwards staring straight up at the sky. Millions upon millions of stars were out.
And I saw a "shooting star" and another, and another.
The peak was meant to be at about 10pm...... In all honesty by the time I had showered and sat down, the exhaustion and excitement of the day had caught up and I was fast asleep.....
Hopefully others remembered to look, and someone even managed a photograph.
I saw just a touch of the main event, but it is forever etched in my mind's eye....
