Hello,
some of you know if this dead snake is a cobra or a molesnake or else?
We sighted him driving along the gravel road from Lambert's Bay to Doring Bay on March 4th, 2016.
We sighted first two birds trying to feed on him, when we approched the birds flew away. Why does he died? He doesn't seem squashed by cars or big trucks.

Thanks in advance.

No expert but at first glance looks like cape cobra.

I agree with cheetahlady :thumbs_up: .

The ID pointers of a Cape Cobra are the following:

1. Shinny smooth keeled scales;
2. Large cheeks to house the snakes fangs; and lastly
3. The hood that we cannot see in the picture.

They come in different colours and your snake is the brown speckled form.

Here is an example:

Hi! I saw two of these snakes at Cape Point this past winter. Does anyone know what species it is?

Also not an expert but looking through my field guide I would suggest it could be a Cross-marked Grass Snake.
