updated website

Unread post by arks » Wed Oct 19, 2016 10:01 am

A few complaints:

I have (and have had since 2005!) the SANParks homepage as my default browser page as that's always been, for me, the easiest way to then go to the cams and the forum.

Unfortunately now those links are NOT included in the menus at the top of the SANParks homepage, but only at the bottom, which I find VERY irritating. As well, they are not at all easy to find

Also, on the all webcams page, they are again being displayed 3 + 1 and NOT in the "usual" order (which I assume is preferred by most?) which is: Orpen and Satara as the first row and Addo and Nossob as the second row. I hope that this can be fixed?

I also hope that a link to the forums can be placed prominently on the homepage or included in the dropdown menus at the top of the page. Or perhaps the webcams and the forum are not felt to be "important" for marketing?

I also find the "photograph" background of the page(s) VERY distracting as it draws the eye away from the content on the page.

So in addition to this comment

let me add that the webcam images are currently quite a bit smaller than they were in the 2 over 2 display.

I don't want to be too negative.
But agree with arks. The background image is very distracting.

I LOVE the new look!

The photo background is fantastic.
The navigation does take a little getting use to, but I am sure in a couple of days it will be as if it has always been like this!

I just have a question on the webcams - is there a way to see all 4 at the same time as we have in the past?

Also, When I click on "font colour" I cannot see any colour options.

Ah, I see the font colour is not working - thanks Karin, will report.

If you scroll down the main page, there is a link to the webcams there - or bookmark this link:- https://www.sanparks.org/webcams/

DB,
Overall the new look is good.
Just find the background distracting.

I don't know what is happening, but I start with a long green menu bar with topics from top to bottom, and need to scroll far down to get where I want to be. It might be settings on my side, but I doubt it, seeing that other webpages are working fine. I'm using Chrome with Windows 10.

Good Afternoon All.

This new website looks lovely, it looks so lovely and I was so eager to test everything out that I even managed to book a night stay on the updated website today at Shingwedzi Camp this coming Sat.

I would have loved for the forums to be at the top of the page, but I can get used to it, being down there.

I do agree with the above comments on the background, it is perfectly lovely, but only if it can be made less bright, like the opacity of the image can be reduced, if that makes sense, if not we all still love SANPARKs, and get used to the background as well.

Ovarall it all looks lovely, and thanks to the update, I got a night to spend in Kruger :D

My only complaint is the background. Distracting.
The black font isn't visible against it where there is no white or light coloured page

Otherwise more responsive. There seems to be easier access to other parts of the Sanparks website.

Thanks for all the hard work. I have to say however that for me I find the photograph extremely distracting and it hurts my eyes to have all these little dark bits - makes all that white very glaring. Is there some way we could have choices like we had once before so that those who have problems with contrast could find a more suitable background? (The sand colour around the white was far more restful).

The webcam pics are, as Arks said, all squashed up together as three with one below for me too. Not very enjoyable like this but maybe its just a glitch that can be fixed.
