Back from a very special day.

Really got me thinking of them Rhinos.

We have many heros protecting our heritage.

There will be a formal statement issued on the happenings of today. In a nutshell, the HRs and SANParks did some very important education and networking. And the VHRs were involved.

There are already some photos up on a facebook page - The Success Academy.

Here is the link if you wish to go and have a look there. http://www.facebook.com/TheSuccessAcademy?fref=ts

Very cool. The HR's do so much good for SANParks. Mrs. Stark and I lost count of how many improvements and initiatives we saw in KNP that were a direct result of HR hard work, and in-the-park work is only a part of it. Nice job, volunteers.

Hi guys

After a long but very successful day we can report that we met up with some very special folks today.
We also me a very special girl named Alyssa

Have a look here at what she has done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGZ1wHF8KM4

Absolutely fabulous stuff.

Will give more feedback as the week goes along.
At the end of it all you don't want to go into the grave peacefully and quietly in well preserved body... You want to go sort off skidding in sideways, full of bruises and scratches saying: "Man what a ride!!!"

Just a bit of reflection on our little excursion.

It was very sobering to talk to people who are involved in the anti-rhino poaching movement. There really is a war out there and every effort is needed. No effort is too small.

I also became aware of the importance of a credible movement that can be trusted to use the funds wisely. One very passionate gentleman came to ask questions and became very aware of a level of mistrust that funds might go into the wrong direction.

I would like to say that the Honorary Rangers give every cent to what is needed. Because it is a volunteer organisation, there are no costly admin fees.

I saw someone dressed in a "field guides uniform" on the very day I went to Centurion. He was clearly an imposter taking advantage of the kindness of people. Do be aware that the money is needed, but also be cautious.

The Honorary Rangers movement is audited and has been going for decades. It has built up goodwill and understands the needs of the anti-poaching people on the ground. Many HR's have spent time assisting in every way possible.

The HRs are doing WONDERFUL work, not only in the anti-poaching campaign, but in various other areas as well!

The only way we can thank them, is to support them when and wherever we can!

I'm not quite sure where to start ....
I work for a large international water engineering company and we are VERY KEEN to get involved in the drive against Rhino Poaching. We have a lot of reduntant and obsolete water pumps - particularly borehole pumps and I'm sure there is a way we can put these to good use somehow... and somehow benefitting our beloved Rhinos. Please let me know how we can get involved. thanks! RICK
