Satara Webcam -questions

Unread post by Skillie » Thu Jan 14, 2010 8:46 pm

Ok, I've been a forumite now for over three years. I accept all the rules and abide by them but..... I do have a few questions. :hmz:
Mainly, we visit Satara camp perhaps four, five times a year. Whilst still living in England I got so excited watching the animals visits, it was my real introduction to the forum.
What I really can't understand is why there is nothing, ie nothing at all that I have seen, in Satara camp to publicise the fact that the webcam is there?

If there were even a board explaining about the forum and displaying the website address and the cam I am sure many, many visitiors worldwide would go home and log on and help raise funds for the park.

I have spoken to several managers in Satara and they, basically, don't seem interested in promoting its existence. I may be wrong but the gut feeling is that some camps have taken the forum on board and positively encouraged links whereas others are negative in their responses.

Just curious, does anyone else have ideas on the subject? :hmz:

Also valid for Orpen & Nossob cams.

Also valid for Orpen & Nossob cams.

BB -- every time we have checked in at Orpen, the receptionist checking us in has, very proudly I may add, told us about the waterhole and webcam and what a variety of animals are to be seen. They are very proud of their webcam I think

Wasn't the Satara cam bought with forumite donations? I also think it's sad that there is no acknowledgement of this or the webcam at Satara.

@Mods/VHRs - is this something that could be looked into?

Hi Guys

I remember some years ago I think when the webcam was still new, that someone captured an image, of a pride of Lions at the Satara drinking troff and printed a picture with the web address, and the pic was stuck up on the wall, outside the reception, but as I say many moon's ago.

Regard's Tim

Just found this topic :
Perhaps that is why they did not know there was a broken pipe to the waterhole and let it run dry in January.

Only with persistent calls from webcam watchers and finally Matthys alerting them, was it fixed?
