Norms, it was not actually a spot. I had lunch with Shi and a few other mites and thought it would be good to let others see what Shi looks like on the road. If you see this vehicle, stop it! The driver is a true GEM in every sense of the word!

I really think the time has come that somebody design a BIG yellow ribbon which we can order on the forum or buy somewhere where non-forum members can't buy it for whatever they might think it is for. Directly over the counter at the shops but only on request, for instance.
The reason I'm saying this is that most of the time the ribbons are too small to notice until we are right on top of each other and nearly all the time it is too late to greet and meet.
Last December we used a thick yellow dishcloth and nobody could miss it! We also tied YR on the passenger side rearview mirror.
Just my penny's worth...

We tie 2 yellow ribbons (bows)on our car - one on each rear view mirror.

We traveled from Croc Bridge on 8 May to Mopani and spent 7 days there. We were privilrdged to meet Meandering Mouse, who went out of her way to meet us for lunch in Letaba as we dorve north. Thank you MM...thorughly enjoyed the time we spoent together.

A few days later it was lovely to meet Shi and Flying Cheetah at Shingwedzi.

Great to meet you all and look forward to meeting you all again as well as other Mites.

We only saw 3 YR during our stay.

Hi,

Have just recently come back from a trip to Kruger and the following mites all had YR's:

Meandering Mouse
Sprocky
Magic Guarri
Flying Cheetah

These are the mites that I knew would be there and who I was meeting up with. However there were a few surprises for us....

Rhonda and SO were spotted in Olifants...was great to meet you both and hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay
Chappie and SO at Shingwedzi and again later at Mopani...it was really lovely to meet you both and really hope to see you again. Hope SO is doing really well Chappie
And finally on my last day on the way out...Salcro and SO...I was so happy to see another YR that I got quite emotional   Was great to meet both of you even if it was just for a few short moments...

Keep them flying it is GREAT to bump into fellow mites in the park

I was thinking along the lines of a rear view mirror sock (also like the WC) that could also be personlized with your forum name.

Not my thread, but cannot help noting the unique ideas coming forth!
I'm of a good mind to get to a (silk)screen printer and start my own YR's, socks and flags! I mean like for personally moi!

As for the YR, it has to be tied to the rearview mirror on the driver's side, but we tie them to both mirrors.
As for size, well, it's supposed to be just normal ribbon I guess, but we found that we are basically on top of one another (passing other YR's) before you can actually see the YR and then it's too late to meet and greet. Last time we were there, I found a bright yellow dishcloth and tied it to the driver's side mirror.
Nobody could miss us!

I'll be getting myself a nice thick yellow ribbon for my next trip beginning mid October, so not to be missed. It will be my first Kruger trip as a forum mite and would be nice to meet some other mites!

As a long time addict of God's playground, but a first time flyer of the YR the next time we go in, I would prefer something eminently recognizable at a distance.

"What's that?"
"A flock of weavers"
"But it's right next to that car over there?"
"Oh good point"

Maybe a bafana shirt? Kidding kidding kidding!!!

I would like something obvious though. It would be really amazing to meet you currently electronic lot.

We used florist ribbon tied tight around both rearview mirrors. We had long tassles hanging down, which we ended up having to tie knots in as they were fraying.

I have to admit it was a bit noisy on the days we had long drives between camps, but they were definitely visible.

I will probably try fabric ribbon next time - tied in a big bow.

My SO will tell you that the ribbons are the favourite hiding place of very big spiders - he didn't open his window for 2 days 'cos of the spider hiding in his ribbon!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some YRs on my next trip - sometime in the next 9 months!! Still to be confirmed.
The B Squared - Bianca and Brian, and Kyle too!

During our November 2009 KNP trip we made many new friends via YRs and plan to do so on our next trip starting 15th August 2010.

Can I also highlight the benefits of adding names on the Meets and Greets section. We had seen several names of mites staying at camps for the same nights as us and we have had a pm from some to meet up at Shimuwini and another meet up planned at Satara.

Only 28 sleeps to go ........

I was in Skukuza, Berg n Dal and Tamboti from 24 June to 4 July. I met Kath, Oumie, Vlakvark se vrou and Theuns and Elzet, all by yellow ribbons. My yellow ribbon was also flying.

It was great to meet you all.

Hi TerryC, Theuns and Elzette,
It was teally nice meeting you. The friendly way I was stopped by you people to say hallo was appreciated....makes me really feel part of the Forum. A guy in a black Landrover also saw my yellow flag when we directed them to Elzette'z Cheetas and mentioned the forum.

I also had a red ribbon on my car. We were stopped by a guy near Skukuza with a Spanish Soccer hat with red and yellow colours and were thanked for supporting the Spain Soccer Team!!!

I hope to see you again
Friendly regards
